Residents
of Ashland County who are unaffiliated with Ashland University may
purchase a yearly $10.00 library courtesy card to receive limited
borrowing privileges. Courtesy card borrowers must be at least 18
years of age and provide a valid picture ID at time of registration.
Borrowing privileges are not extended to high school students.
The following rights and responsibilities apply:
Only materials from the main book collection may be borrowed. Among
excluded items are all materials in the Instructional Resource Center
(IRC), Music CD's, videotapes and sound recordings, dvd's and OhioLINK
materials. Interlibrary loan services are not available to courtesy
card holders. The Ashland Public Library may provide services
and materials unavailable at the university library.
Books are checked out for four weeks and may be renewed in person
or by phone for an additional four weeks. A maximum of ten titles
may be on loan to a borrower at one time. Fines of $0.25 per
book per day are charged for overdue books. Overdue notices
are sent when materials are one week overdue. Notices are sent
as a courtesy to borrowers and non-receipt of a notice is not reason
to remove a fine. After three notices have been issued, a replacement
bill is sent, and borrowing privileges are suspended until the account
is settled. Books may be recalled before the due date if needed
by students or faculty. Courtesy card holders are asked to notify
the library of changes in address or telephone.
