Q. How do I find out what materials
are in the Ashland University Library? A: The Ashland University
Library Catalog, lists titles in Ashland University
Library, Ashland Theological Seminary and the Instructional Resource Center. View
the Library Catalog here,
or through a link on the
library's home page.
Q: How do I know when the library is open? A: Library hours,
both regular and holiday, are posted on AU Library's
Home Page under the Services and Information menu heading Library
Hours. For additional questions call the
library circulation desk at 419-289-5400.
Q: As an off-campus student how do I borrow books
by
visiting academic libraries? A:
Eighty-six academic libraries in Ohio are members of
OhioLINK. When you identify yourself as an Ashland University student at any
OhioLINK library you may borrow its books. You will need to present your seven
digit university ID number to check out materials.
Q: As an off campus student how do I
borrow books through OhioLINK? A: Books
from OhioLINK libraries can be ordered through the OhioLINK
central catalog, and may be picked up at the main campus, Columbus
Center, Stark Center, or any OhioLINK library. Books may
be returned to any of these locations as well. To avoid late
fees, return items several days before the due date if you return
them to an off-campus center or to a library other than that
at which you picked them up. Columbus Center students please note:
OhioLink books should be picked up and dropped off in
the main office. In the event that the office is closed
students may drop off the book in the bookstore. OhioLINK
books may be checked out for three weeks and renewed up to
four times, as long as another user has not placed a hold on
the item, for a total maximum borrowing period of 15 weeks.
Visit the AU Library Catalog online to renew your OhioLINK
books before the due date. The late fee is $.50/day, and lost books incur a substantial
replacement charge.
Q: How do I check out a
book that is listed in the AU catalog without having to come to the
library? A: If you find
it convenient to pick up an AU library book at a near by OhioLINK
library, search for the book in the OhioLINK catalog and request
a pick up at the location of your choice. The AU book
may also be returned to the OhioLINK library it was delivered
to, or it may be returned to the AU library.
Q:
As an off-campus student how may I use the databases on the AU Library Home
Page? A: Most
of of the research
databases are available off-campus when you identify yourself as an Ashland University
student. See the
remote
authentication page for more information and the resources available through
remote authentication. Many databases link to the full-text referenced
in the citation.
Q: How do I get periodical articles once I have the proper
citation? A: For immediate availability check research databases
for periodical articles that may be available online. Students from the
off-campus sites may request copies of journal articles housed in the AU Library. The sites have forms you may fill out and mail or fax to the library.
We will copy and send articles we own within a week. Requests totaling fewer
than ten pages will be filled free of charge. Totals of ten or more pages will
be copied at a charge of $.10 per page. You will be invoiced when the articles
are sent. We will place an interlibrary loan request at NO CHARGE for articles
which are NOT in our library. There are copies of ILL forms on the
library web page in the Services and Information menu. Articles sent from other libraries will usually
take at least two weeks to arrive.
