The IRC is a self serve work area for Ashland University students, faculty, and staff, providing resources such as laminating and binding. A small selection of materials and supplies are available for purchase.

IRC staff is ready to assist patrons with laminating, binding, and making transparencies, however we do not provide drop off service.

IRC Price List: 2007 - 2008

Binding - comb only 50¢ each
Bulletin Board Paper 15¢ per foot - all colors
Computer Disk 50¢ each
Construction paper 5¢ per sheet
Ellison Cuts 1¢ per cut using our paper

Laminating $1.00 per sheet, desk top laminator
Laminating $1.00 per foot, roll-top laminator

Laminating:

We recommend using the roll-top laminator for most laminating jobs. This machine is more cost effective and, once the machine is heated, facilitates larger jobs quickly. Patrons should be prepared for the initial 15 - 20 minute wait while the machine reaches the correct laminating temperature. If you are coming from another campus location, feel free to call ahead and we will turn on the laminator ahead of time.

Ellison Machine:

Patrons bringing in their own paper may use any one of our six Ellison machines for free. ANY use of our paper (even scrap box paper) is a penny per cut.

Payment Options:

Payment for the above supplies and services is required at time of purchase. Cash, checks made out to the University for the exact purchase amount, and University transfer of funds forms are the three payment options available in the IRC. We are unable to take Eagle cards as a form of payment.

Charging to a University Account?

  • Have your account name and number ready.
  • You will be required to sign for any account transfer purchase.

Not charging a University Account?

  • Cash and Personal Checks are accepted.
  • Checks should be made out to the exact amount and payable to "Ashland University."

EDCI 131/504 & the IRC

This independent-study course delivered via WebCT provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with basic operations of various instructional media and technology. Students are required to demonstrate their skills and knowledge with these technologies in order to successfully complete and pass the course. The basic skills required will provide a foundation for the integration of instructional media and technologies in method courses, field experiences, and other related education courses. ALL modules must be satisfied in order to pass this course.

Instead of a physical classroom space, EDCI 131/504 is facilitated by the IRC; Library second floor. WebCt allows for assignment modules to be completed using any Internet capable computer. However, various assignments must be completed in the IRC, the GA's are available in the IRC for help, and the file cabinet for completed work is located in the IRC.

Graduate Assistants

  • How do I contact the Graduate Assistants?
You may email the GA's at irc@ashland.edu.
  • Is help available online?
Yes. Chat is available through WebCT.
  • What if I need help with the lab work?
If after reading the instructions and trying to perform the task, you are still confused, you may schedule an appointment with a graduate assistant or the course instructor for a demonstration. Appointments will not be accepted for due date weeks or finals week. Do not procrastinate!  It is your responsibility to schedule time to complete each module. Do not wait until the end of the term to complete the project.
