IRC: LSTA Grant (Archive Page)
Thanks to a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), awarded by the State Library of Ohio, the Instructional Resource Center has upgraded the technology resources utilized by education students enrolled in EDUC 131/504 Instructional Media Lab and available to library patrons for in library use. As of July 16th, most of the new technology is available for use. For more information concerning the grant, contact Diane Schrecker, dschreck@ashland.edu.

Technology purchased:
- 13 Gateway Computers - 17 inch LCD monitor, CDRW drive, speakers
- 9 HP ScanJet 4600 series scanners
- 4 Sony Mavica MBC-FD200 digital cameras
- 14 Print Shop Deluxe 20 software packages
- 20 Adobe Acrobat 6.0 software packages
- A Ricoh 3000 Color Laser Printer (auto duplex)
- 4 Network Hubs (additional)
The distribution plan for new computers on the second floor includes six Gateway PC's and two Mac's outside of the IRC. Each pc has either an HP Scanjet 4300C or 4600 scanner; directions for use are with each scanner. Inside the IRC, there are six new Gateway pc's with HP ScanJet 4600 scanners. For printing, a Ricoh 3000 color laser jet printer has been added to the existing HP 4200 laser printer option. As with the previous color printer, all color prints cost 10 cents per page. Duplex color printing is 20¢. All computers on the second floor print into the IRC.
All of the new PC's have Adobe Professional 6, Print Shop Deluxe 20, and eight pieces of licensed educational software loaded. The additional education licensed software are titles which are available for circulation purposes within the IRC collection. Ask at the IRC desk for additional information concerning the software selection.
