The following blogs have replaced our traditional IRC what's new page (now this archival page).

Scholastic Book Fair | February 20, 2006
Kappa Delta Pi is hosting a book fair at the Student Center Thursday, February 23rd through Saturday, February 25th. Materials will cover preschool through grade 12, they are expecting over 460 titles, and many of the titles will have a savings of 30%! Hours are as follows: Thursday 2/23, 9 am to 2 pm; Friday, 2/24, noon to 9 pm; and Saturday, 2/25, 1pm - 6 pm.

Mock Caldecott | January 17, 2006
Dr. Mary Rycik's Children's Literature class participated in a mock Caldecott award session. The class discussed sixteen books, narrowed the selection to four, and voted on a winner and honor book. A photo gallery, class handouts, and internet resources are included on the Mock Caldecott page.

Education 131/540 | January 9, 2006
Project portfolios from the Fall 2005 semester will be available Spring 2006. Students may pick them up from the filing cabinet in the listening lab, second floor library.

Mock Caldecott | September 6, 2005
Dr. Mary Rycik's Children's Literature class participated in a mock Caldecott award panel. The class discussed twenty-one books, narrowed the selection to four, and voted on a winner and honor books. A photo gallery, class handouts, and internet resources are included.

The IRC Blog | June 28, 2005
New items are continually added to the IRC, juvenile, and education circulating collections. Beginning with the fall 2005 academic school year, this blog will replace the yearly book lists published on the IRC web page. Items, both circulating and reference, will be entered as they are cataloged and available for use. Each entry will have an accompanying heading, specific to the genre. Please note that anyone with a specific book request will continued to be personally notified via email when the books arrive. New juvenile books will be located on the new book shelf on the second floor of the library, outside of the IRC. New education books will be initially located on the new book shelf located on the library main floor, near the reference area. All other items will be shelved immediately in their home locations.

Summer IRC Hours | May 9, 2005
Summer hours have been posted for IRC operations. The IRC is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 and closed weekends. Daily lunch closing is from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Additional changes and closings are posted on the hours page. 

New Graphic Novels

Additions have been made to the graphic novel collection at Ashland University Library. Titles have been added to the circulating collection for both juvenile and adult readers. Not familiar with graphic novels? Check out the following articles and web sites for more information:

Scholastic Book Fair | October 4 - 7, 2004
The second annual IRC scholastic book fair, Read, White, and Blue, was held October 4 - 7th. Thanks to everyone who helped make this book fair a success!

LSTA Grant | April 1 - August 31, 2004
Thanks to a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), awarded by the State Library of Ohio, the IRC has upgraded technology resources for the library, second floor. Utilized by education students enrolled in EDUC 131/504 Instructional Media Lab and available to library patrons for in library use, new technology includes 13 computers, 9 scanners, 4 digital camera's, Print Shop software, Adobe Acrobat 6 professional, and a new color printer. A As of July 22nd, most of the new technology is available for use. For more information concerning the grant, contact Diane Schrecker, dschreck@ashland.edu.

Scholastic Book Fair | October 6 - 10, 2003
Thank you for making our first Scholastic Book Fair a success. The book fair made $1900.00 and enabled the library and IRC to add over $1100.00 in scholastic books and materials to the existing collection. New books may be found in the new book shelf on the second floor and housed within the regular juvenile collection. Items cataloged as materials kits and book kits will be located in the IRC.

Laptop computers in the library | October 10, 2002
Lap tops are now available at the reserve desk in the library. A current Ashland University ID is required. Computers check out for a period of two hours and may be used on the main and second floor of the library and limited areas of the quad.

PBS Videos and DVD's | October 7, 2002
The PBS video collection, Database of America's History and Culture, has been moved into the listening lab, room 201 on the second floor. The DVD collection is located next to the PBS videos. Items circulate on-campus only.

Mock Caldecott Awards | September 4, 2002
Dr. Mary Rycik's Children's Literature class participated in a Mock Caldecott Award session. For more information, and to view the titles considered, visit the Mock Caldecott resources page.

New Children's Books | September 3, 2002
Located adjacent to the juvenile collection is a "new book" bookshelf. As juvenile selections are added to the library collection, they will initially be shelved here. This area is signed and has a bulletin board display featuring new titles.

Caldecott and Newbery Titles | May 20, 2002
Award winning children's literature is shelved at the beginning of the juvenile collection. Each section is signed and includes handouts featuring the AU library location of each title. At least two copies exist of both Caldecott and Newbery titles. One may be found within the regular collection and the second in the specified award area.

New Library Web Page | August 12, 2002
Additions to the library web page include "How to Find" links for articles (journal and periodical), books, and reserves. The new library web page debuted May, 2002.
