MBA General Information

Ashland University offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in executive management. Initiated in 1978, the MBA program is designed for middle and top managers.

It combines a high-quality business education with the practical knowledge gained from work experience. Ashland University's MBA Program is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Classes are offered in Ashland, Columbus, Massillon, Medina, New Philadelphia (online), and Westlake, Ohio.



Mission Statement


The mission of the Ashland University School of Business Administration and Economics is to prepare both traditional and non-traditional students to become educated business professionals. The School is committed to creating an understanding of the importance of productivity, quality, and the human dimension of business operation.

Faculty complement their primary responsibility of quality teaching with pursuit of scholarly activities as well as professional and community service. This includes interfacing of faculty with the business community, through research, consulting, dialogues, internships, and student- related projects. This permits the integration of business theory with practical applications.



Program Objectives


  1. To provide for the needs of future and practicing executives by offering an education integrating relevant theory with practical application.
  2. To offer a curriculum that provides the necessary tools for decision making and problem solving while exposing the student to the functional areas of business that are appropriate in today's business environment.
  3. To meet the needs of diverse groups of students by integrating international students into our American business culture in order to develop a global awareness.
  4. To provide the fundamental business courses and skills for the non-business degree holders and for international students by offering a foundation program to prepare them for graduate studies in business.



Structure


Ashland University offers students the Master of Business Administration course work in seven convenient program centers across the state.

MBA semesters commence each September, January and May and classes meet for 12 weeks. Depending on the location, classes meet in the evenings and/or on Saturdays; this permits students to learn without interrupting their normal working schedules. By completing two courses each semester, students may earn their degree after two years of study.



Accreditation


The Ashland University Graduate Studies in Business Administration Program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Instructional
Ashland University offers MBA classes at the main campus in Ashland, Ohio.  Classes are also offered at the following program center locations:
  • Columbus - 1900 E. Dublin-Granville Road (Rte. 161)
  • Massillon - 2550 University Drive SE
  • Medina - 2498 Medina Road (Route 18)
  • New Philadelphia - Lauren Manufacturing, 2228 Reiser Ave. SE
  • Westlake - Corporate College, 25425 Center Ridge Road

Resources
The nine-story Ashland University Library houses over 300,000 items. This includes the special theological collection, the reference department materials, bound volumes of periodicals and government documents, microtext collections, The Harold E. Andrews Collection of Special and Rare Books, the Lulu Wood Library of Children's Literature, The Numismatic Center Collection and the University Archives. The Library is also a depository for federal and state documents. Electronic databases and resources are available through CD-ROM networks and the Internet.

The John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs is located on the top floor of the main Library. Former President Ronald Reagan dedicated this center on May 9, 1983, as a memorial to Ohio Congressman John M. Ashbrook. The Center for Public Affairs is unique for the educational and research opportunities it offers.

Computer labs in Dauch, Patterson, and Hawkins-Conard Student Center on the main campus are available for use by graduate and undergraduate business students. These labs are equipped with IBM compatible computers and software.
