Ashland University Jazz Orchestra to Perform Free Concert
The Ashland University Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Scott Garlock, will present a free concert on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Eagles' Nest in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center. The performance is free and open to the public.
Selections for the concert will come from the program the orchestra will perform at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival in Chicago the last weekend of February and include “Alright, OK, You Win” by Wyche and Watts (arr. Collins); “And the Angels Sing” by Mercer and Elman (arr. Wolpe); “Beauty and the Beast” by Menken and Ashman (arr. Goodwin); “Big Dipper” by Jones; “Category 4” by Jarvis; “Caught a Touch of your Love” by Best, Bickhardt, and Keller (trans. Reed); Ellington’s “Do Nothin’ til You Hear from Me” (arr. Newsom); “Making Time” by Morgan; “Samba Para Minha Avo” by Tomaro; “Woodchopper’s Ball” by Herman and Bishop; and Gillespie’s “Woodyn’ You” (arr. Tomaro).
