Accent on Women, Ashland University’s third annual women’s day on campus, will be held on May 7 in the Dauch College of Business and Economics.
Area residents are invited to join Ashland alumnae, spouses of trustees, mothers of current students and other friends of the University for a day of short educational sessions on a variety of topics, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Morning breakout sessions set for 9:15 a.m. will include “Finding Your Inner Child & Your Entrepreneurial Spirit” by Kris Hovsepian, assistant professor of business administration, and “Get Connected with Online Networking” by Steve Kaufman, education technology specialist.
Sessions at 10:15 a.m. will include “Do It Yourself Curb Appeal” by Susie (Campbell) Quinn ’67, general manager of Willo’Dell Nursery Garden Inc.; and “The Sandwich Generation: Looking Beyond the Obvious Needs of Seniors,” by Bonnie Jablonowski ’07 MBA, executive director of Care Tenders.
At 11:15 a.m., breakout sessions will include “Fashion Focus: Sophistication at Any Age” by Dr. Nancy A. Morris, associate professor of Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) with students from FCS Course 416 Fashion Merchandising; and “Dispelling Wellness-ness” by Dr. Beth Patton, CHES, assistant professor of sport sciences.
A lunch in Ashland University’s Accent Room will be followed by a 1:15 p.m. presentation titled “Going Green: A Practical Approach in Your Home” by Dr. Soren Brauner, professor of biology/toxicology, and Dr. Patricia Saunders, associate professor of biology/toxicology.
The planning committee for the event is comprised of Holly Finks ’89, Ashland University First Lady; Jill Segrist Charlton ’82, assistant director of Alumni & Parent Relations; Margaret Ertl Pomfret ’97, director of Alumni & Parent Relations; Linda Swanson ’99, assistant director of prospect research & proposals; and Jennifer Polley Webb ’97, director of Major Gifts & Endowed Scholarships.
