Maplerock Jazz Festival to Feature Dirty Dozen Brass Band

ASHLAND, Ohio ¬ The Ashland University Jazz Orchestra, Dr. Scott Garlock, musical director, presents the Maplerock Jazz Festival on Friday, April 16, in the Center for the Arts.

The Maplerock Jazz Festival is an educational and entertaining event that features internationally recognized jazz luminaries mixing with local musicians and regional scholastic groups.

This year’s featured guest artist is the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, a group that has been featured guests on recordings by artists such as David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Dr. John and the Black Crowes.

This year’s events include:

10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Hugo Young Theatre/Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall
Regional High and Middle Schools perform and receive clinics by our guest artists in a non-competitive setting. Free and open to the public.

7:30 p.m.
Hugo Young Theatre
Dirty Dozen Brass Band performs with the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra. Tickets are $12 for adults; $5 for seniors/non-Ashland University students; free to Ashland University students, and can be purchased at the Ashland University Box Office at 419-289-5125.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band formed more than 30 years ago in New Orleans as a traditional brass band. Today, it is world-renown for its genre-bending romps and high-octane performances, helping revitalize the brass band around the world by performing in over 30 countries on five continents.
