Ashland University Names Annual Fund Chair

Ashland University has named Ashland resident Matt Miller as the national chair for the 2010-2011 Ashland University Annual Fund Campaign.

The Ashland University Annual Fund provides scholarships and financial aid for students, enhances programs and facilities, improves library acquisitions and supports faculty development. As national chair, Miller will be the spokesperson for the Annual Fund throughout the year.

Matt Miller“I really am honored to be asked to help with this year's campaign,” Miller said. "Anyone who visits the campus of Ashland University these days will clearly see that the University has undergone an impressive transformation as it wraps up the first decade of the new millennium.

“From the Dauch College of Business and Economics to the Dwight Schar College of Education, and from the incredible new athletic stadium to the recent development of the College of Nursing, Ashland University is ready to meet the changing educational needs of our incoming students."

Miller said a successful Annual Fund Campaign is absolutely essential to make Ashland University's focus on the individual available and affordable for students of all backgrounds. “I am honored to have the opportunity to assist these students in obtaining a world-class education," he said.

A graduate of Hillsdale High School, Miller is a 1999 graduate of Ashland University, where he was both a Presidential Scholar and an Ashbrook Scholar at the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs.

Miller served two terms as an Ashland County commissioner before being named the new Business & Development Administrator of the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland.

While serving as a county commissioner, Miller was twice elected president of the Northeast Ohio County Commissioner Association.

A former United Way Campaign Chairman, Miller currently serves on the Ashland County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Board of Director’s for Hospice of North Central Ohio. He is also on the University & College Access Network Board (UCAN) and a member of the Ashland County Community Foundation Marketing Committee.

He currently resides in Ashland with his wife, Melanie.
