Tickets Available for Ashland University's 35th Annual Madrigal Feaste

Area residents are invited to celebrate the holiday season with Ashland University Department of Music's 35th annual Madrigal Feaste. Tickets are now available for the performances, which will run Dec. 1 to 5 at 6:30 p.m. in Redwood Hall.

Directed by Dr. Rowland Blackley, director of choral activities, the Madrigal Feaste is a dinner theater based on the period of Queen Elizabeth I of England around 1600. With entertainment provided throughout the evening, the event includes Christmas carols, ceremonial music and madrigals performed by the Ashland University Chamber Singers while the Madrigal Players present a new play each year along with other theatrical stunts throughout the evening.

Performer costumes are designed as authentic reconstructions of period apparel; and the Feaste includes a four-course meal culminating in flaming bread pudding. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.

The 2010 Madrigal Feaste Chamber Singers feature Jim Slike as the King and Ally Slotterbeck as the Queen along with their court including Jonathan Barko, Bryon Black, Jordan Black, Melissa Bloomfield, David Dick, Bethany Farnham, Margo George, Derek Jackenheimer, Jake Kinney, Lauren Massaro, Johanna Regan, Curtis Reynolds, Brandy Riha, Shanna Srock and Katie Vargo.

Led by Taylor Hale as the Jester, the Madrigal Players also include Madeline Beer, Eddie Carney, Jensen Glick, Tim Hawk, Katie Mounts, Sarah Saddler and Sean Smith. Additional cast members for the Madrigal Feaste include Chris Simmons as the butler along with Marita Tornabene and Caitlin Adams as serving wenches.

Tickets for the event are selling quickly and are $25 for adults; $15 for children under 12; and $22 for groups of 10 or more. A special $11 ticket is available to Ashland University students for the Wednesday performance only. To purchase tickets, call the Ashland University Central Box Office at 419-289-5125, Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 6 p.m., or visit in the lobby of Hugo Young Theatre at the corner of Grant Street and College Avenue. Due to preparation of meals, tickets are not available at the door.
