Ashland University Posts 2010 Electronic Christmas Card

Millions of people across the globe have captured the Christmas spirit thanks to the electronic Christmas cards that have been distributed by Ashland University since 2001.

“We get thousands of replies from people all over the world who have viewed the cards,” said Steve Hannan, director of public relations at Ashland University. “They vary from a simple ‘thank you’ to some remarkable stories of how the cards have brought back a special Christmas memory.”

This year’s card was created by three Ashland University computer science sophomores -- Allen Kowal and Jim Huang from Wooster, Ohio, and Matthew Smithburger from Smock, Pa. The three spent countless hours designing this year’s interactive card, which features special Christmas messages from each of the four University Colleges.

"The three of us were completely honored to be chosen to work on the Ashland University Christmas e-card for this year,” Kowal said. “Knowing how prestigious of a project this was, and knowing that our work was going to be seen by thousands of people around the world, made the experience all that much more special to us. We are very proud of the fact that we were able to represent Ashland University with this e-card."

To access this year’s card, go to http://ecard.ashland.edu/. The cards from the previous years are also available through that link by clicking on the View Gallery option.

According to Hannan, the University sends the electronic card link to Ashland University alumni as well as admission prospects.

“The cards continue to circulate the world every Christmas season so millions of people across the globe continue to say ‘Merry Christmas’ through Ashland University’s electronic cards,” he said.
