Ashland University Welcomes Visiting Professor from Brazil

Earlier this semester, Professor Francisco Baima, Ph.D., from Santa Catarina State University located in Florianopolis, Brazil, came to Ashland to study the finance program at the Dauch College of Business and Economics and expand the relationship between our two universities.

The visit from Baima continues the exchange of both professors and students from Santa Catarina State University that started with the Schar College of Education.

“Professor Baima teaches finance at his university and wanted to see the methodologies and content of Ashland’s finance program,” said Terry Rumker, assistant professor of finance, who was responsible for hosting Dr. Baima during his stay. “We are currently exploring ways to expand opportunities with the Dauch College of Business and Economics building on the foundation that Schar College of Education started,”

Baima attended several finance courses during his stay and expressed a special interest in personal finance. In addition to observing classroom presentations, he also presented the state of Brazil’s economy to local business owners and students.
