The Ashland University SIFE team took first place at the Regional Competition in Cleveland on March 21, 2011. Students presenting included Josh Drusbacky, Jennifer Winter, Lisa Caron, Emily Denholm, Mindy Belden, with Joe Budd administering the media and technology support. SIFE presented a program entitled, "A Hand Up, Not A Hand Out," that focuses on how Ashland University SIFE projects have empowered people. Presented projects included the Fifth Annual Financial Literacy Competition (for regional high schools), the International Marketing Competition: Retail in China (sponsored by Abercrombie and Fitch), Sales Skills for Finance Majors, and a campus-wide event for Empower Worldwide Outreach. As a regional champion, the Ashland University team competed in the National SIFE Exposition in Minneapolis on May 11, 2011. Presenters included Jerry Arko, Emily Denholm, Josh Drusbacky, Morgan Kanzig, Hallie Mast, with Joe Budd for technical support. Additional support staff included Florin Helf and Catherine Rolf.
