Scott Van Loo has been named the new vice president of Enrollment Management and Marketing at Ashland University. He will start at Ashland on May 31.
Van Loo, who comes to Ashland from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., replaces Colleen Murphy, who took a similar position at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C.
At Ashland, Van Loo will take over an enrollment management area that is in the process of being reorganized and is expected to include both undergraduate and graduate enrollment areas.
“Scott will direct the daily operations of the undergraduate and graduate admission and enrollment areas and will play a key role in shaping the overall direction the university takes with respect to its admission initiatives and programs,” said Ashland University President Dr. Fred Finks.
“The process is in motion to eventually hire a graduate enrollment director and this person will be under the new umbrella of the enrollment management area located in the Gill Center,” Finks said. “The plan is that the enrollment management area will be involved in the recruiting and admissions of undergraduate students as well as graduate students in the various programs.”
Finks said he believes Van Loo will be a tremendous asset as Ashland University enhances its enrollment efforts.
“As an enrollment leader, Scott has demonstrated that he has much expertise in the area of recruiting as well as working to manage and improve student services that aid in retention,” Finks said.
As vice president of Enrollment Management and Marketing, Van Loo also will lead the marketing, public relations, financial aid and retention efforts on campus.
Van Loo has served as vice president for enrollment management at Southern Seminary since 2009. In that role, he led the enrollment management division of eight departments and was responsible for the recruiting of more than 1,000 new students a year, including undergraduate students.
Prior to joining Southern Seminary, Van Loo served as director of admissions, associate director of admissions recruitment and associate dean of student life at Cedarville University. In addition, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Wright State University in Dayton.
Van Loo has a bachelor of arts degree from Cedarville University and a master of arts in educational leadership higher education from Wright State University. Van Loo is currently a Ph.D. student in educational leadership higher education at the University of Dayton.
