Ashland University Slates President’s Convocation

Ashland University invites area residents to attend the annual President’s Convocation on Sunday, Sept. 11. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 4 p.m. in the University’s Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, located on the corner of King Road and College Avenue.

With faculty adorned in academic regalia, the event will feature an address by Ashland University President Dr. Frederick Finks. His address is titled “Navigating the Freedoms.”

The University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Rowland Blackley, professor of music, will perform the anthem “Set Me as a Seal” by René Clausen and join the congregation for two hymns, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and “Live into Hope.”

Dr. Dan Lawson, dean of religious life, will extend a welcome and provide the speaker introduction and benediction, while Provost Dr. Frank Pettigrew will deliver the invocation and scripture reading. Dr. Timothy Guenther, university organist, will provide the opening and closing voluntaries.
