Ashland University Professor Selected to Attend Television Academy Seminar

Oct. 11, 2011/ASHLAND, Ohio – Tim McCarty, interim chair of the Department of Journalism & Digital Media at Ashland University, has been selected as one of 20 individuals nationwide to attend the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation's 2011 Faculty Seminar in Los Angeles Nov. 7-12.

Tim McCartyMcCarty was selected based on his resume and letter of application, which stressed the JDM department’s plan to strengthen its relationship with the local cable provider, Armstrong. “We are renewing that relationship and we have some exciting things planned with Armstrong,” McCarty said.

The Television Academy Foundation seminar is endowed and covers the cost of participants’ airfare, lodging and transportation to and from seminar events as well as most of the meals.

“This is great recognition of Tim's professional background -- he has won three Emmys, as well as recognition of our new Journalism and Digital Media program,” said Dr. Dawn Weber, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

McCarty said the program will allow travel to a number of different studios for panel discussions, meetings and seminars. “It will allow me to network and get ideas from network professionals and entertainment business people,” he said.
