Ashland University alumnus Jerry Ruyan, a 1968 graduate of Ashland University and founding member of Redwood Holdings LLC, will present the address at Ashland University’s winter commencement ceremony set for Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center.
The ceremony will be for undergraduate and graduate students and no tickets are required for this indoor ceremony. The ceremony also will be broadcast live in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium.
A Commencement day luncheon will be held to honor all of Ashland’s graduates. The graduate and two members of his or her family will be our guests for the luncheon, which will be served immediately following the ceremony in Myers Convocation Center. Additional guests will be served for a fee and those tickets can be ordered at www.ashland.edu/commencement.
The commencement procession will begin at 9:45 a.m. and graduates are to assemble at 9 a.m. at the west end of Conard Field House, which is located just west of the Physical Education Center. Parking for individuals with disabilities will be available in Parking Lot N behind the Physical Education Center.
Ruyan is founder of Redwood Holdings LLC., a diversified private equity company that invests in varied businesses. Prior to becoming a founder of Redwood in 1995, Ruyan was president and chief executive officer of Meridian Diagnostics Inc, a publicly traded company that develops diagnostic test products for the global medical industry. As a founder of Meridian, he is intimately familiar with developing growth for a company from start-up to identifying market potential, nurturing product development, operating successful organizations and accessing public markets. He guided Meridian through each stage to create a thriving, and still growing, public company.
Ruyan has been an active, successful investor in other companies in need to private equity infusions and management support. He serves on the boards of the following companies: Hemagen Diagnostics Inc., Meritage Hospitality Group Inc, and Schonstedt Instrument Company.
Ruyan is a former trustee for Ashland University, where he received a B.S. degree in Biology in 1968. He received his Master’s degree in Microbiology from the Ohio State University.
