Dauch College of Business Establishes Living-Learning Community

Ashland University’s Richard E. and Sandra J. Dauch College of Business and Economics (COBE) has established a new program titled “COBE Connection” that will place first semester freshman students from the Dauch College in a living-learning community during their freshman and sophomore years.

Students in this new program will better connect to Ashland University, optimize their opportunities to enhance their career path through networking, build relationships with faculty and fellow COBE students, and experience a different perspective of learning.

According to Terry Rumker, assistant professor of finance, students will take two courses together each semester in both their freshman and sophomore years. Rumker said living in the same residence hall will provide students with an immediate support system during the critical first two years. In addition, the living-learning community will allow students to:

  • create customized social events
  • develop life-long friendships
  • gain easy access to other students in their major
  • increase interaction with faculty and staff
  • improve academic performance with less stress

Those interested in learning more about the program can contact Doreen Bailey at dbailey2@ashland.edu or Terry Rumker at trumker@ashland.edu or call the university at 419.289.5943.  Program seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserve your spot today!

Ashland University (www.ashland.edu) is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Ashland University values the individual student and offers a unique educational experience that combines the challenge of strong, applied academic programs with a faculty and staff who build nurturing relationships with their students.
