Support of XP and Upgrading to Windows 7

Release Date:
Thu, 2012-06-21 09:52

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP in 2008. There are currently no more service pack updates and soon to be no security updates for Windows XP. IT has migrated classrooms/labs to Windows 7 and Office 2010 and are in the process of upgrading Faculty and Staff's computers. If your operating aystem is Windows XP, IT will be contacting you to upgrade to Windows 7. If you have not been contacted yet, please go to kbox.it.ashland.edu and input a ticket requesting to be upgraded to Windows 7 or call ext. 5405.

If you have Adobe Professional (PDF creator/editor), your department will need to purchase the most supported version which is Adobe 10.

One of the advantages of going with Windows 7 is the new wireless infrastructure works seamlessly. The drivers for local peripherals is a much larger database included into the operating system which makes it a little more flexible for users to install their local devices.
