Ashland University Finance Professor Receives Best Paper Award

11/1/2012 ASHLAND, Ohio – A paper written by Dr. Hongxia Wang, assistant professor of finance at Ashland University, and her co-authors was selected as the 2012 Best Paper in Corporate by the Southern Finance Association (SFA). The title of the paper is “Do busy directors and CEOs shirk their responsibilities? Evidence from mergers and acquisitions.”

Dr. Wang and her co-authors, Dr. Bradley W. Benson of Ball State University, Dr. Wallace N. Davidson III of Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Dr. Travis Davidson of Ohio University, will receive the award at the annual SFA banquet on Nov. 16. The authors will receive a $1,000 cash prize in addition to the award.

The SFA is a well-recognized organization in finance. Each year, the SFA program committee reviews all papers submitted to the annual meeting and selects a paper deserving of special recognition in each of the areas of corporate, financial institutions, international finance and investments.
