Ashland University Launches Improved Social Media Directory
With a concentrated focus on social media this year, Ashland University is busy developing ways to improve how students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community stay connected online. As a result, the Communications & Marketing Department has launched an updated, user-friendly social media directory to help visitors more easily navigate through the many active online pages created by Ashland University.
The social media directory can be found at http://news.ashland.edu/social-media-directory and includes direct links to the colleges, programs, services, clubs and organizations that encompass the Ashland University network.
“There needed to be a more efficient way for our online visitors to access information,” explained Victoria Frank, social media marketing coordinator at Ashland University. “The social media directory is simple and easy to use. Whatever you’re looking for, if it’s online, it’s in the directory.”
The directory consists of a scrolling list of campus pages, categorized and alphabetized for convenience. Direct links to each social media page are available by clicking the specific social media icon on the list. Updates to the directory will occur frequently as new pages are developed and officially recognized by the University. “It will be important for browsers to check back often to see what’s new,” Frank said.
Currently, Ashland University maintains an active presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Flickr and Instagram. Many departments and programs at the University frequently update their individual blogs with event information and department highlights as well, while organizations such as student life, athletics and alumni relations have created a dynamic online community of their own.
“Ashland University promotes academics, athletics, social life, student organizations, alumni accomplishments and so much more, all through social media,” Frank said. “Our goal is to have Ashland become one of the most socially recognized universities in the country, but what’s more important is the overall purpose of helping everyone discover what Ashland University is all about and why we are a nationally ranked institution.”
Ashland University, ranked in the top 200 colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report’s National Universities category for 2013, is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Ashland University (www.ashland.edu) values the individual student and offers a unique educational experience that combines the challenge of strong, applied academic programs with a faculty and staff who build nurturing relationships with their students.
