Ashland University to Hold ‘Eagle Nation Celebration’ at Stadium

4/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University will hold an “Eagle Nation Celebration” that will honor the 2013 women’s basketball team that won the Division II national championship as well as the All-Americas, national qualifiers and national champions in a number of other Ashland University sports.

The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Jack Miller Stadium inside the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex off Broad Street.

“This will be a celebration honoring approximately 70 student-athletes and we are asking that the community and university come together to pay tribute to these outstanding athletes who have produced one of the greatest single years in athletics at Ashland University,” said William Goldring, athletic director at Ashland University

According to Goldring, the event will feature recognition of the national championship women’s basketball team as well as the national champions, national qualifiers and All-Americas in men’s and women’s indoor track and field, men’s and women’s swimming, wrestling, men’s cross country and women’s volleyball.

The event, which will be emceed by Ashland University alumnus Ken Dworznik, will feature a number of dignitaries including Ashland University President Fred Finks and Glen Stewart, mayor of the city of Ashland.
