    It’s hard to imagine a time when Ashland University was made up of only 75 students and eight faculty members. Even harder for one to imagine is a plain Ashland campus, unadorned with its signature eagle statues; or a football game without our beloved mascot, Tuffy.

  • Making a Difference

    Making a difference is a big part of Rachel Heckathorn’s life. In fact, it’s one of the reasons she looked at Ashland in the first place. 
     
    Rachel liked the fact that Ashland University offers lots of opportunities to get involved. She also loved the safe campus, the fact that it had strong departments in both biology and religion, and the school colors. “When I finally toured Ashland, everything just clicked. By the time the tour was over, I knew it was the school for me.”

  • Building a Healthy Tomorrow

    It was in 1919 that, upon its establishment, the Mansfield General School of Nursing began to offer aspiring nurses the chance to earn a diploma in nursing. In 1997, the School of Nursing became the MedCentral College of Nursing offering students the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree.

  • Ashland Theological Seminary Plans Event with Ruth Graham

    Oct. 11, 2011/ASHLAND, Ohio – Women in Dialogue, a program of Ashland Theological Seminary, is bringing Ruth Graham to the Ashland University campus for a public event on Nov. 10.

    Ruth Graham, the daughter of the Rev. Billy Graham, will speak on “Fear Not Tomorrow – God is Already There” at the 7 p.m. event in Hugo Young Theatre. She will share honestly about her experiences facing infidelity, divorce and parenting challenges, including unplanned pregnancies, bulimia and drugs.

  • Ashland University Professor Awarded Psi Chi Faculty Advisor Research Grant
    Dr. Diane Bonfiglio, assistant professor of psychology at Ashland University, has been awarded a Faculty Advisor Research Grant from Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
     
    Dr. Bonfiglio is one of 12 Psi Chi advisors nationwide to receive this award for the 2011-2012 academic year and the $2,000 grant will partially fund a planned collaborative study by Dr. Bonfiglio and Dr. Mitchell Metzger, professor of psychology and department chair. The study will investigate physiological reactions in a directed forgetting procedure.

  • Ashland University Professor Authors ‘Curious Critters’ Book; Book Launch Event Set for Oct. 25
    Oct. 12, 2011/ASHLAND, Ohio – Beautiful butterflies, bright red beetles and a big brown bat are just a few of the curious critters in a new children’s picture book by Ashland University professor David FitzSimmons. “Curious Critters” features stunning animal images and entertaining vignettes, with animals talking about their everyday lives in nature.
     
    FitzSimmons, an associate professor of English at Ashland University, said “Curious Critters” is meant to educate, entertain and inspire.
