  • Ashland University Posts 2010 Electronic Christmas Card

    Millions of people across the globe have captured the Christmas spirit thanks to the electronic Christmas cards that have been distributed by Ashland University since 2001.

    “We get thousands of replies from people all over the world who have viewed the cards,” said Steve Hannan, director of public relations at Ashland University. “They vary from a simple ‘thank you’ to some remarkable stories of how the cards have brought back a special Christmas memory.”

  • Winter Commencement 2010 Set for Dec. 11

    The Honorable Jeff Payton, retired Mansfield Municipal Court Judge, will present the address at Ashland University’s winter commencement ceremony. The event will be held Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. in Kates Gymnasium in the Physical Education Center. Payton’s address is titled, “I Accept.”

    Dr. Jane Piirto, trustees’ distinguished professor in the Dwight Schar College of Education at Ashland University, has been selected as the 2010 NAGC Distinguished Scholar by the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). The Distinguished Scholar award is the NAGC’s highest honor.

  • Distinguished Professor Receives National Media Attention

    Ashland University Trustees’ Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jeffrey Weidenhamer has been featured in the national media for his testing of inexpensive jewelry items for lead and cadmium content. His research, which included work done by Ashland University students under his supervision, has been featured in newspapers and national television news shows across the country and has led to a number of recalls by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

  • Ashland University to Celebrate Community Service Week

    The Center for Community Service at Ashland University has scheduled a number of events for students as well as faculty and staff members as part of its “Calling All Volunteers” Community Service Week Oct. 23-30.

    The week of special events begins on Make-A-Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 23. Students will be assisting with a variety of projects throughout the community, including leaf raking for senior citizens.
