Ashland University Student Living His Dream at Theatre Company
6/13/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Brandon Wurgess, a native of Fremont and a hospitality management major who will begin his senior year at Ashland University this fall, is living his lifelong dream this summer.
Thanks to his hard work and a connection with an Ashland University alumnus, Wurgess is working this summer as a marketing assistant at the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company in Weston, Vt.
Wurgess is a 2011 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He is son of Beth Wurgess of Fremont.
Ashland University Professor Reads for U.S. History AP Exam
6/13/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Dr. Duncan Jamieson, professor of history at Ashland University, was one of 1,200 readers for the AP U.S. history exam this year in Louisville, Ky. This is the sixth year that Jamieson has read for the exam.
Every year for the past several decades thousands of high school AP teachers and college professors gather to read the 1.3 million subject essays for the AP U.S. history exam. According to Jamieson, one question is required of each student, and it is based on several documents surrounding a particular topic.
Ashland University Coburn Gallery Exhibition to Open June 30
6/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - The 2013 Ohio All Media Juried Exhibition, featuring paintings, mixed media art, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculpture and assemblage art, opens on Sunday, June 30, in the Coburn Gallery at Ashland University. This exhibition, which runs through July 31, was created as a showcase for Ohio artists working in any media, traditional or experimental.
Ashland University Third In Final Learfield Cup Standings
6/6/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University has placed third in the final 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings. These are the national all-sports standings. This is the second consecutive year Ashland University has been third in the country and it’s the sixth straight year the school has finished in the nation’s Top 10.
Ashland University Rec Center to Hold Frisbee Tournament; Opens Climbing Wall to Community
6/5/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Recreation Center will be holding an event for members of the community and opening its climbing wall to those in the community on four Saturdays during the summer.
The Rec Center will hold its second annual Community Ultimate Frisbee Tournament for members of the Ashland community who are ages 16 and up. The event, which will feature a men’s and women’s division, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, with registration due by July 26.
Ashland Seminary’s Commencement Ceremony Set for June 8
6/4/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland Theological Seminary will confer 146 degrees to the 144 members of 2013 graduating class at the commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m. in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the Ashland University campus.
The Reverend Dr. Leah Gaskin Fitchue will deliver the ceremony’s commencement address, which she has titled “Welcome to Perfect Timing.”
Study by Ashland University Doctoral Student Finds Value in Value-Added
6/3/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - A study conducted by an Ashland University doctoral student shows that Ohio’s value-added model for determining public school student achievement produces results that are less biased by factors such as family income, school district property wealth and school expenditures than other accountability measures.
