  • April Offers Full Slate of Free Concerts by AU Music Majors

    4/2/13 ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Department of Music at Ashland University offers a full slate of free concerts by its music majors during the month of April. From vocalists and an a cappella ensemble to a pianist, percussionist and horn players, the end of the year performances offer something for everyone.

    All of the following recitals are free and open to the public and are held in the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts (formerly known as the Arts & Humanities Building).

  • Pulitzer Prize Winner to Give Ashbrook Center Lecture

    4/2/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Michael Ramirez, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and the senior editor and the editorial cartoonist for Investor’s Business Daily, will speak at the Ashbrook Center’s Major Issues Lecture Series on April 18 at noon in Myers Convocation Center on the Ashland University campus. Ramirez will speak on the topic “Editorial Cartooning and the State of Journalism in a New World Order.”

  • Ashland University Offers Two New Certificate Programs

    4/2/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University is now offering two new certificate programs for veterans and adult students through its Founders School of Continuing Education.

    The first is a Fitness Training Certification Program, which is a self-paced, 8-week course providing 65 hours of online instruction taught by 27 of the most well-known and progressive health and fitness educators in the fitness industry.

  • Nurse to Present Talk on ‘Harm Reduction in Addiction Treatment’

    4/1/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Drug abuse and addiction are in all of our communities and more often now even in our own families. Addiction is a multifaceted problem with many causes and many consequences. Not only does it impact the individual, but it undeniably affects family, friends and the community. Many who thought that drug abuse was a distant problem existing only in other families and in other towns are now feeling the personal toll of loved ones, friends and neighbors who have become involved.

  • Ashland University to Host Senior Art Exhibition

    3/28/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Held each spring, Ashland University’s Coburn Gallery hosts the Senior Art Exhibition which features the capstone experience for graduating art majors.

    “The 2013 Senior Art Exhibition represents more than just students’ studio art experiences,” said Cynthia Petry, director of the Coburn Gallery. “For students of the liberal arts, the exhibition is the culmination of their undergraduate careers at Ashland University.”

  • Ric Goodwin Takes Final Curtain Call at AU Theatre

    3/26/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University Department of Theatre's “Season of Comedy from Stage and Screen” concludes with “A Life in the Theatre” by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet.

    The comedy first appeared off-Broadway in 1977 with revivals in 2006 and most recently in 2010 co-starring Patrick Stewart and T. R. Knight, and was made into a television movie in 1993 with Jack Lemmon and Matthew Broderick.

  • Winners Announced in Ashland University’s Student Art Exhibition

    3/22/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – The award winners have been announced for Ashland University’s 2013 Juried Student Art Exhibition that will run through April 5 in the University’s Coburn Gallery.

    The outside juror for the exhibition was George T. Gregory, instructor at The Ohio State University in Columbus, and he was responsible for selecting the exhibition consisting of 125 artworks from among a competitive field of 178 student entries and also designating the award recipients.

  • Lady Eagles Win National Championship

    The Ashland University women's basketball team was crowned the Division II national champions Friday night after defeating Dowling 71 to 56 in San Antonio, Texas. The Eagles led the entire game pulling out to double digit leads most of the way. The Eagles, who entered the tournament ranked second in the nation, ended the season with a 37-1 record and got revenge for a loss in the chamionship game last year. The Eagles were led by senior Kari Daugherty who had 26 points and 12 rebounds.
