  • Ashland University’s Teacher Network Holds Day of Service

    1/22/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Students in the Ashland University Schar College of Education’s new Teacher Network participated in a “Drive for Supplies” as part of the National Day of Service on Jan. 19.

    Approximately 25 students from the Ashland University’s Teacher Network, a program that places first semester freshman teacher education students in a living-learning community, collected school and office supplies from on-campus offices and organizations and donated them to Harmony House in Mansfield on Saturday.

  • Ashland University Celebrates MLK Day and Black History Month

    Ashland University has scheduled a number of events for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month. In addition to the calendar below, a candlelight vigil against violence honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and remembering those who were lost in the Sandy Hook School, Newtown, Connecticut, tragedy will be held in the upper level of the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel on the Ashland University campus Monday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.

    The campus and the community are encouraged to attend. The event is free and open to the public.

  • AU Music Presents Several Student Recitals and Faculty Recital in January

    1/15/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - The Department of Music at Ashland University presents several student recitals and a faculty recital in January featuring vocalists, a percussionist and organist. All of the recitals are free and open to the public.

    The student recitals are held in the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts (formerly known as the Arts & Humanities Building), and the faculty organ recital is slated for the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel.

  • Ashland University to Host Partners in Health Speaker

    1/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Erin George, a nurse midwife who is working in Haiti as part of the Boston-based organization Partners In Health (PIH) program, will make a number of presentations at Ashland University on Feb. 6.

    George, who was awarded a prestigious Gruber Global Justice and Women’s Rights Fellowship from Yale University to work with the Partners in Health program, will be on the Ashland University campus to meet with students and faculty during the day and will give a public presentation at 7 p.m. in the Schar College of Education’s Ronk Lecture Hall.

  • Ashland Seminary Professor Authors Book

    1/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Wyndy Corbin Reuschling, professor of ethics and theology at Ashland Theological Seminary, has authored a new book titled “Desire for God and the Things of God: The Relationship Between Christian Spirituality and Morality.”

    “For many Christians, spirituality and ethics are in separate mental and experiential compartments,” Reuschling said. “Spirituality may be understood as an inner experience, while ethics is focused on decisions or positions on issues.”

  • Ashland Area Chorus Begins Spring Rehearsals January 14

    The Ashland Area Chorus, a non-auditioned mixed choir of about 65 singers, begins spring rehearsals on Monday, Jan. 14, with the Chorus meeting on Monday nights from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ashland University in the Center for the Arts (formerly the Arts and Humanities building), room 242.

    The Chorus is slated to perform Brahms “Requiem” with the Ashland University Choir and Ashland Chamber Orchestra on April 27, and Borodin's “Polovtsian Dances” with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra on May 4.
