  • Ashland University Alumna Authors Successful Book

    Author Stacie V. Hutton of Columbus, who received her masters of education degree from Ashland University in 1998, has written a new book, “Shovelful of Sunshine,” which is about a little girl named Meggie Gwinn who has lost her dreams and her coal miner father helps her to get them back. The book has been extremely successful, reaching the top of the Amazon.com book list.

  • The J.M. Smucker Company Endows Scholarship at Ashland University

    11/8/12 ASHLAND, Ohio – The J.M. Smucker Company, based in Orrville, Ohio, has contributed $50,000 to establish an endowed scholarship at Ashland University.

    The endowed scholarship was established by a gift from The J.M. Smucker Company, as well as a group of Ashland University alumni who are employed at The J.M. Smucker Company.

  • Ashland University Graduate’s Work to be Featured at Kendall Gallery Exhibition

    11/ 7/12 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ashland University alumna Casey Snyder will have her work featured in the fall 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition at Kendall Gallery at the Kendal College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, Mich.

    The exhibition will run from Nov. 12 to Dec. 4, with the opening reception planned for Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Snyder is a 2010 graduate of Ashland University with a bachelor of fine art degree with a concentration major in painting, a concentration minor in computer art and a minor in art history.

    11/5/12 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) was again recognized for the quality of the student entertainment it offers on campus when it won four awards, including Programming Organization of the Year, at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Mid-America Regional Conference held Nov. 1-4 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

  • Ashland University Offers Unique Toxicology Degree Program

    A study by Penn State University has determined that there are only 10 programs in the United States that award baccalaureate degrees in toxicology, and Ashland University offers one of those programs.

    “As for Ashland University, I think it is worthy of mentioning the fact that we are a private school that offers a very broad toxicology program covering topics ranging from pharmacology to environmental toxicology,” said Dr. Andrew Trimble, assistant professor of toxicology at Ashland University.

    11/1/2012 ASHLAND, Ohio – A paper written by Dr. Hongxia Wang, assistant professor of finance at Ashland University, and her co-authors was selected as the 2012 Best Paper in Corporate by the Southern Finance Association (SFA). The title of the paper is “Do busy directors and CEOs shirk their responsibilities? Evidence from mergers and acquisitions.”

  • Ashland University to Hold Veterans Day Ceremony

    10/31/12 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University will hold a 30-minute Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. on the University’s Quad.

    Dr. Michael Hudson, associate professor of geology, will speak about "The Value of Service" at this event, which is being sponsored by the new Ashland University Chapter of Student Veterans of America. Ashley Miklas, president of the Ashland University Chapter of Student Veterans of America, will introduce Hudson.

  • Ashland University Religion Professor Publishes Book

    10/30/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - Dr. Craig Hovey, assistant professor of religion at Ashland University, has published a new book titled “Unexpected Jesus: The Gospel as Surprise.”

    Published by Cascade Books, the book “offers a theology of hope, waiting and promise from the perspective of the resurrection of Jesus. It asks what kind of knowing is most appropriate if the God Christians worship is a living God and the Christian gospel is a surprise,” Hovey said. “I can't wait to use it in my Christology class in the spring.”
