  • Lecture to Address Role of Communication in Healthcare

    10/29/12 ASHLAND, Ohio – Medical communication is one of the fastest growing fields of study and many colleges and universities, including Ashland University, are beginning to introduce health communication to their communication curriculum.

    Health communication is helping evolve the medical field as a whole. People’s lives are being saved because health communication can help reduce the amount of time it takes a trained EMS to get from the accident scene to the hospital, thus helping save the life of the victim.

  • Ashland University Senior Receives Award

    Megan Wise, a senior at Ashland University and resident of North Canton, Ohio, was chosen as the recipient of the 2012 Ohio Communication Association Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award. This award is given to stellar students who excel not only in the classroom but at a state and national level as well. This is the highest student honor offered by the organization.

  • Ashland University Sets Free Poetry Workshop

    10/26/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - This winter, a free, two-day poetry workshop will be offered on the campus of Ashland University on Dec. 1 and 2.

    Area and regional residents are invited to join Ashland University professors and staff Deborah Fleming, Stephen Haven and Sarah M. Wells as well as featured presenter Lynn Powell for two days filled with workshops, seminars, readings, open-mics and socializing with other poets and writers from across the state of Ohio.

  • Ashland University Group Attends Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics National Conference

    Ashland University’s Dietetics Program was well represented at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ (AND) National Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo held in Philadelphia, Pa. Oct. 6-9.

    Ten dietetics students, including Dietetics Program Director Dr. David Vanata, attended this national conference. The students included (front row from left) Rebecca Hof, Autumn Sweet, Ivana Petrovic, Natalie Hritz; and (back row from left) Kayley Thomas, Heather Bumbalough, Jessica Jurcak, Carly Steed, Krista Youngpeter, Korynn Kelly and Dr. Vanata.

  • Ashland University Musical Theatre Troupe Now Accepting Bookings

    10/23/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University Theatre’s Drop of a Hat Players, a traveling musical revue troupe, is accepting bookings for the 2012-2013 season through the beginning of May based on performer availability. Performing classic and contemporary Broadway show tunes with a pianist, the troupe is available to perform at banquets, meetings, parties, civic group engagements or other special events.

  • Ashland University Alumni Business Chosen As 'Best Chocolatier'

    Tre Sorelle Cioccolato, a business operated by two Ashland University alumnae, has been chosen by Lake Erie Living Magazine as “Best Chocolatier.” Tre Sorelle is owned and operated by Jan Beck, who received a bachelor of science in business administration from Ashland University in 1983 and Judith Beck Horchler, who received her doctorate in education degree from Ashland in 2002. The two sisters are certified chocolatiers who began their business in November 2007.

  • Ashland University Students Receive IMA Scholarships

    10/18/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University seniors Grace Bowers, an accounting major from Wadsworth, and Bethany Horrell, an accounting major from Canal Fulton, have received a national scholarship from the Institute of Management Accountants.

    Students Receive IMA ScholarshipsBowers, at left in the photo, and Horrell both received a $2,500 national scholarship from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) for the 2012-13 academic year.

  • Ashland University’s Coburn Gallery Sets Senior Art Exhibition

    10/18/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - The Coburn Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Department of Art at Ashland University, will host the “Senior Art Exhibition Fall 2012,” an exhibition showcasing the work of three senior art majors from the Class of 2012.

    An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition will be on view from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15, 2012.

  • Colombian Peacemakers to Speak at Ashland University

    10/16/12 ASHLAND, Ohio – Three Colombian peacemakers who are on tour throughout the United States speaking out against human rights violations will speak at Ashland University on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Ridenour Room of the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

    The three Christian peacemakers -- Diego Higuita, synod executive of the Presbyterian Church of Colombia (IPC); Jesus Vargas, moderator of the IPC; and Fernando Sanmiguel, IPC pastor from Colombia -- will speak on “Christian Peacemaking in Colombia.”

  • Ashland University Hospitality Major Interns at MGM Grand

    Tallmadge resident Kelly Cadman, a senior hospitality major at Ashland University, interned this summer at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. Cadman, who is a 2009 graduate of Tallmadge High School, is the daughter of William and Sandra Cadman.

    Cadman spent her summer as an intern in hotel and convention sales with MGM Resorts International. Due to working in hotel and convention sales, Cadman handled a lot of interactions with clients who had not booked their meetings or conventions yet.
