  • Ashland Seminary Professor Publishes New Book

    3/14/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Dr. William P. Payne, the Harlan & Wilma Hollewell professor of evangelism and world missions at Ashland Theological Seminary, has published a new book titled “American Methodism: Past and Future Growth.”

    According to Payne, the 378-page book carefully examines the historical data related to early American Methodism and the early American Republic in order to understand the interplay between the two.

  • 2013 Maplerock Jazz Festival Features Vaughn Wiester's Famous Jazz Orchestra

    3/13/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University’s award-winning Jazz program will host the 2013 Maplerock Jazz Festival slated for Friday, March 22. Along with free performances by area high school jazz ensembles in the afternoon, the event presents a main stage concert at 7:30 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre featuring the Vaughn Wiester Famous Jazz Orchestra as guest artist.

  • Charles Krauthammer to Speak at Ashbrook Center’s Memorial Dinner at Ashland University

    3/12/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Pulitzer Prize winning commentator Charles Krauthammer will speak at Ashland University on May 3, 2013, as the keynote speaker for the 28th Annual John M. Ashbrook Memorial Dinner.

    Sponsored by the Ashbrook Center, the event has hosted many political leaders including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell, Margaret Thatcher and John Boehner.

  • Ashland University College of Arts and Sciences to Host Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium

    3/12/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s College of Arts and Sciences is hosting an Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium that will feature the works of approximately 55 students from 13 departments in the College.

    According to Dr. Diane Bonfiglio, assistant professor of psychology, the April 10 symposium, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Myers Convocation Center. The symposium will feature oral presentations, performances, poster presentations and art exhibitions.

  • Ashland University Environmental Lecture to Focus on ‘Urban Ecology of Coyotes’

    3/12/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Environmental Lecture Series continues its series on “The Ecology of Urban Living” with a March 21 lecture by Dr. Stanley Gehrt, associate professor of environmental and natural resources at The Ohio State University.

    This lecture, which is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall of the Schar College of Education, is titled "Ghost Dogs: Urban Ecology of Coyotes." This lecture is free and open to the public.

  • Ashland University Professor Receives Certificate for Outstanding Achievement from Ohio Senate

    3/11/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Matt Tullis, assistant professor of journalism and digital media at Ashland University, has received a certificate for outstanding achievement from the Ohio Senate.

    The award, which was sent to Tullis from Ohio Sen. Larry Obhof’s office on behalf of the Senate’s 130th General Assembly, noted that Tullis’ story “Feet of Clay, Heart of Iron,” was selected as one of “102 Spectacular Nonfiction Stories from 2012.”

  • Ashland University Professor to Speak on ‘The Ancient Roots of Nonviolence’

    3/11/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Is it really possible to “love one's enemies” in an actively nonviolent way?

    Dr. David C. Aune, associate professor and chair of the Department of Religion at Ashland University, will present “The Ancient Roots of Nonviolence” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, in the Ridenour Room of the Dauch College of Business and Economics on the Ashland University campus.

    The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Ashland Center for Nonviolence, which is housed on the Ashland University campus.

  • Bruce Hunter to Speak at Ashland University

    3/7/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Bruce Hunter, one of the strongest advocates of public education in the halls of Congress and a nationally sought after speaker on national educational issues, will be speaking at Ashland University on Wednesday, March 20.

    Hunter serves as associate executive director of The American Association of School Administrators, headquartered in Washington, D.C.

  • Ashland University English Professor to Give Poetry Reading

    3/6/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Dr. Deborah Fleming, professor of English, chair of the English Department and editor of the Ashland Poetry Press, will read from her poetry collection “Morning, Winter Solstice” on Monday, March 18, at 4 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall located in 138 Schar College of Education Building.

    The reading is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

  • Ashland University English Department Sets Spring Reading Series

    3/4/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University English Department has set its Spring 2013 Reading Series that will feature a fiction reading by Bill Roorbach on March 25 and a nonfiction reading by Diana Hume George on April 15.
