  • Ashland University to Host Coburn Gallery Talk

    4/15/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ashland University Coburn Gallery and Art Club will be hosting a gallery talk titled “Conscious Surrealism-Revisited” with senior art major Mauricio Uranga on Wednesday, April 17, from 12 to 12:50 p.m. in the Coburn Art Gallery. Lunch will be provided by the gallery.

    Uranga said his talk will focus on how he manipulates symbols, light, colors and the compositions of the paintings to create a story in a viewer’s mind.

  • Ashland University Students Receive Awards at Senior Art Exhibition

    4/15/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Two Ashland University seniors received awards last week at the opening reception of the Senior Art Exhibition at the university’s Coburn Gallery. The awards were presented by Daniel McDonald, chair of Ashland University’s Art Department.

    Ashley HainesAshley Haines of Eastlake, Ohio, was selected as the senior art exhibition winner by the art department faculty. Haines is a 2008 graduate of Eastlake North High School and is majoring in art education at Ashland University.

  • Guest Pianist Performs Bach, Debussy, Chopin and More on April 21

    4/11/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University Department of Music will present a guest artist recital with pianist Michelle Cann on Sunday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall located in the Center for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.

  • Ashland University FCS Students and Faculty Attend State Conference

    4/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University was well represented at the 104th Ohio Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (OAFCS) Conference held in Cambridge, Ohio.

    FCS StudentsEleven students and three faculty members -- Dr. Cindy Moseman, assistant professor of Family and Consumer Sciences; Dr. Deborah Sullivan, professor of Family and Consumer Sciences; and adjunct professor Bernadette Paul – attended the conference held at Salt Fork State Park Lodge and Conference Center on March 22 and 23.

  • Ashland University to Hold ‘Eagle Nation Celebration’ at Stadium

    4/10/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University will hold an “Eagle Nation Celebration” that will honor the 2013 women’s basketball team that won the Division II national championship as well as the All-Americas, national qualifiers and national champions in a number of other Ashland University sports.

    The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Jack Miller Stadium inside the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex off Broad Street.

  • Three AU Students Win Awards at Ohio National Association of Teachers of Singing

     4/9/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Three Ashland University students were award winners at the Ohio National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition that was held April 6 at Kent State University.

    The competition featured more than 300 performers and their voice teachers and all participating students performed before judges and received comments regarding their singing. Ashland University’s name was called out three times at the awards presentation.

  • Ashland University Senior Receives Scholarship

    4/8/13 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ashland University senior Lindsay Cameron, an integrated language arts major, has been named winner of Sigma Tau Delta’s Senior Scholarship and will receive an award in the amount of $4,000.

    Lindsay CameronCameron, who is the daughter of Shawn and Pamela Cameron of Warren, was one of two recipients of the senior scholarship. She is a 2009 graduate of Southington-Chalker High School.

  • Ashland University To Perform Brahms’ Requiem

    4/8/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - The Department of Music at Ashland University will present the choral and orchestral masterpiece by the beloved romantic composer Johannes Brahms. Directed by Dr. Rowland Blackley, the Brahms’ “German Requiem” will be performed by the Ashland University Choir, Ashland Area Chorus and Ashland Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre.

  • Ashland University First in Latest Learfield Cup Standings

    4/4/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - For the first time in school history, Ashland University is ranked first in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.

    After the completion of six winter championships, the Eagles lead the nation with 589 points. Ashland University won a national championship in women’s basketball, was second in men’s track and field, fifth in women’s track and field, 12th in women’s swimming and diving, 15th in wrestling and 22nd in men’s swimming and diving.

  • Ashland University Student Receives Summer Research Internship at Michigan State

    4/4/13 - ASHLAND, Ohio - Josh Allman of Pataskala, OH, was one of 15 undergraduate students chosen nationwide to take part in a summer research internship at Michigan State this coming summer. Allman, who is a 2010 graduate of Watkins Memorial High School, is majoring in biotechnology at Ashland University.
