  • Ashland University Launches New Online MBA Option

    Ashland University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program will offer a new online MBA option in the fall of 2011. The new online option complements the University’s current MBA program degree offerings for working professionals.

    Through the new online MBA, students will complete their degrees in two years with the same academic requirements as those taking the regular MBA degree offered by the Dauch College of Business and Economics at the main campus in Ashland and its centers located in Columbus, Massillon/Stark, Medina and Westlake.

  • Groundbreaking Held for Schar College of Nursing

    Shovels and hard hats were the order of the day as Ashland University held its groundbreaking for the new $15.5 million Dwight Schar College of Nursing on June 16. The 46,000-square-foot facility will be located at the corner of Trimble Road and Marion Avenue in Mansfield.

    The ceremony, which was held near the parking lot on the west side of the property at 1020 S. Trimble Road, featured opening remarks from Ashland University President Dr. Fred Finks.

  • It's Another National Crown For Loughney

    Ashland University junior Ryan Loughney (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) won his second consecutive national championship in the hammer throw on May 26 at the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships in Turlock, Calif.

    Thursday was the opening day of the three-day meet and if Loughney was suffering from any jet lag, he hid it well. On his second throw of the day, Loughney unleashed the winning throw of 230 feet, 2 inches. That is an NCAA meet record, eclipsing the mark of 222-7 set by Ashland University thrower Kibwe Johnson on May 24, 2007.

    The Founders School of Continuing Education at Ashland University has announced the selection of Dr. Marilyn Troyer as the executive director of professional development services. Troyer, who lives in Plain City, will replace the retiring Tom Lavinder effective July 1.

    Ashland University has received a $250,000 gift from the Richland County Foundation. Ashland officials say the award will be used for the construction of the University’s new Dwight Schar College of Nursing in Mansfield.

    Eleven Ashland University finance majors competed and placed in the annual Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.) XI Forum at the University of Dayton on March 31-April 2. The students placed fourth in two separate categories as a part of Ashland University’s Eagle Investment Group (EIG).

  • Dr. Thomas Dence Receives Ashland University’s Excellence in Scholarship Award

    Dr. Thomas Dence, professor of mathematics at Ashland University, was honored last week as the University’s first recipient of the Ashland University Excellence in Scholarship Award.

    Dence received a medallion and a check for $5,000 at the Faculty Scholarship Luncheon on campus. The Ashland University Excellence in Scholarship Award recognizes Ashland University faculty who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship.
