  • Ashland University Students Accepted to Present at Midwestern Psychological Association

    Thirteen Ashland University students have the opportunity to go to Chicago on May 5 to present their research in the field of psychology at the annual Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) Conference. The students received a $2,400 grant from the Ashland University Provost to present their research at the Midwestern Psychological Association Conference.

  • Ashland University Group Spends Spring Break on Missions Trip

    While most people think of spring break as a time to get away from school and party, 16 Ashland University students dedicated their spring break to helping others less fortunate than themselves.

    A total of 16 Ashland University students, including six from the University’s new Dwight Schar College of Nursing, headed to the tropical island of Eleuthera, Bahamas, not to relax all day but to work on bettering the lives of those there and to grow spiritually.

  • Earth Week Wraps Up at Ashland University

    Earth Week has come to a close at Ashland University but the initiatives of “going green” are still felt around campus. Activities such as a poster contest for local elementary students, an eco-friendly fashion show and vehicular emissions testing occurred throughout the week and with impressive results.

  • Ashland University Students In Free Enterprise Win Regional Competition

    For the ninth time in the last 19 years, the Ashland University chapter of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) has captured first place in regional competition. On March 21 in Cleveland, the Ashland University squad topped teams from five other universities in the Great Lakes Region.

  • Roberts Wins National Crown in Shot Put, Again
    On March 12, at the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships in Albuquerque, N.M., Ashland University senior Kurt Roberts (Lancaster, Ohio/Athens) won this third national championship in the shot put.

    Very few throwers in the country are as rock solid in a sport as Roberts. He won his first national title in the outdoor season in 2009 and has won the last two indoor track titles. A year ago, he established the meet record in the shot put with a throw of 64-11.5. On March 12, he led the field with a throw of 63-11.

  • Boehner to Speak at Ashbrook Center’s Memorial Dinner at Ashland University

    John A. Boehner, speaker of the United States House of Representatives, will speak at Ashland University on April 8, 2011, as the keynote speaker for the 26th annual John M. Ashbrook Memorial Dinner.

    Sponsored by the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, the event has hosted many national leaders including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell and Margaret Thatcher.

  • Wretches and Jabberers Event Comes to Ashland University

    “Wretches and Jabberers,” a film about two men who have autism and are trying to change the world’s views and attitudes toward disability and intelligence, is coming to Ashland University this April.

    There will be a free screening of the film at Ashland University on April 15 at 6 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session with the cast.

    Along with initiatives seen around the world, Ashland University is “Going Green” in hopes for a better environment. Though recycling is the most visible form of this movement, Ashland University is working hard to promote a more sustainable living in many different facets. One of these events is Earth Week, held at Ashland University the first full week in April.

  • Vive la Revolution!

    Ever wanted to travel back in time, and be a fly on the wall during the pivotal events in Paris during the French Revolution? Ashland University students in the Honors Western Civilization II class were able to experience the next best thing.

    This semester, these students are participating in role-playing simulations from the Reacting to the Past series. The name of the first simulation was "Rousseau, Burke, and Revolution in France, 1791-92" and students were assigned roles informed by classic texts from the period.
