  • Dwight Schar College of Nursing Called A Premier Facility

    Ashland University’s new Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences building is already causing some major waves in the nursing world.

    Faye Grund, dean of the Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences, called the building one of the top nursing facilities in the country and this statement was echoed by Lucas Huang, founder of B-Line Medical, the company that created the software and designed the simulators in the new building.

  • Ashland University Professor Launches Audio Podcast

    2/28/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Matt Tullis, Ashland University journalism and digital media assistant professor, has launched an audio podcast, titled “Gangrey: The Podcast,” that is all about narrative journalism.

    The podcast takes its name from Gangrey.com, a site dedicated to showcasing the very best in narrative journalism, and, according to Tullis, the podcast has a very similar goal.

  • Ashland University Students Awarded CMA Scholarships

    2/26/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Four Ashland University students have been recognized for their outstanding work and were the recipients of the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) scholarships by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) at Ashland University’s Student IMA meeting on Feb. 20. Those receiving the CMA scholarships were Andrew Knapp of Millersburg, Rita Wiening of Ashland, Grace Bowers of Wadsworth and Jessica Workinger of Orrville.

  • Ashland University College of Nursing Receives $75,000 Gift from Sutton Bank

    2/25/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Sutton Bank has made a $75,000 gift to Ashland University as part of the “Compassion, Community, Commitment. Building a Healthy Tomorrow” campaign for the University’s new Dwight Schar College of Nursing facility.

    Ashland University President Dr. Frederick Finks received the gift on Friday from John Augenstein, president of Ashland’s Sutton Bank.

  • Ashland Entrepreneurship Panel Set for Feb. 27

    2/21/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland Main Street will present a panel discussion titled "The Ashland Project: How Local Merchants Can Work Together to Slow the Money in Ashland" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Ridenour Room of the Dauch College of Business and Economics on the Ashland University campus.

    The program, sponsored by Ashland Center for Nonviolence, is free and open to the public.

  • Ashland University Science Research Challenges Hypothesis

    Research done by Ashland University science professors Dr. Jeffrey Weidenhamer, Dr. Robert Bergosh, Dr. Mason Posner and their students is challenging the prevailing hypothesis for the success of an important wetland invader.

    The common reed, Phragmites australis, is a serious invasive weed in North American wetlands and one of the most serious invasive plants in the world. According to recent published reports, the roots of this plant release a toxic chemical, gallic acid, which is responsible for its success as an invader.

  • Ashland University Spring Choral Concert Slated for Sunday, March 3

    2/19/13 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University’s Spring Choral Concert will feature three University vocal ensembles including the Ashland University Choir, Chamber Singers and Women’s Chorus. The spring concert will be held Sunday, March 3, at 4 p.m. at the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.

  • Ashland Seminary Professor Publishes Book

    2/21/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Dr. David Mann, Ashland Theological Seminary professor of counseling and director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, has published a new book titled “Open My Heart, Heal My Soul: Living the Grace-Saturated Life.”

    The book, published by Wipf & Stock Publishers, is available online and at the Ashland University and Ashland Theological Seminary bookstores.

  • Dr. Peter Schramm in the News

    Dr. Peter Schramm, executive director of the Ashbrook Center and professor of political science, had an op-ed piece in the Tuesday, Feb. 19, edition of the Columbus Dispatch and the article was picked up by National Review Online. The Dispatch article was titled, "Washington, Lincoln deserve better than Presidents' Day," while the National Review article was titled "Two Birthdays in February." The article discusses the President's Day holiday and suggests that we end the celebration of Presidents' Day and celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
