  • Ashland University Graduate Interviewed on Bloomberg

    Thomas Filandro, a 1985 Ashland University graduate and an analyst at Susquehanna Financial Group on Wall Street, talked with Bloomberg's Lori Rothman about the outlook for earnings from Limited Brands Inc. and Gap Inc. on May 19. Filandro also discussed prospects for U.S. retailers on this show, which aired on Bloomberg. Filandro is known as a “shining star” on Wall Street.

  • Chemistry Professor Featured in Associated Press Article

    Ashland University Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jeff Weidenhamer was featured in a second Associated Press article regarding cadmium in children’s jewelry. The follow-up article was picked up by media across the country, including the New York Times, USA Today, Time Magazine and WEWS-TV 5 in Cleveland. Following the release of the article, Walmart announced it is pulling an entire line of Miley Cyrus-brand necklaces and bracelets from its shelves after tests performed by Weidenhamer for the Associated Press found the jewelry contained high levels of the toxic metal cadmium.

  • Former Ashland Athlete Wins Cleveland Marathon

    Former Ashland University cross country/track and field standout Brandon Bauer won the 33rd Annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on Sunday (May 16). Bauer, who now works as web content manager for Ashland University's Marketing and Communications, clocked in with a time of 2:27.10.     ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University Schar College of Education has been recognized as one of the elite teacher education schools in the country after receiving all positive marks following its continuing accreditation review by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education.

  • Ashland University Professor Says ‘Pulling an All-Nighter’ is Not a Good Idea

    Dr. David Vanata, associate professor of family and consumer sciences at Ashland University, has done extensive research in areas involving nutrition and cognition and warns students that "all-nighters" result in a decrease in productivity and mental sharpness as well as an increase in stress.
