  • Social Work Majors Place First in Ashland University Business Concept Competition

    Two Ashland University students were awarded first place in the Ashland University ideaLabs Business Concept Competition sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Ashland.

    Danielle Liggett of Galion and Saundra Zellner of Twinsburg received the $500 first prize for their concept, “The Fire Safe-T Room: Provided by the Guardian Service.”

  • Finance Professor Says Market Collapse Has Changed the Way Finance is Taught

    “The collapse of the financial markets from 2007 to 2009 has turned the world of finance upside down and changed the way that finance is taught in the University classrooms. Today, professors are turning to behavioral finance literature, which is grounded in psychology and the ways in which people make decisions.”

    ASHLAND, Ohio -- A finance professor at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, says that the rules for the financial game have changed; turning the world of finance “upside down” and changing the way finance degree students are taught.

  • Ashland University Names New Dean for Dauch College of Business and Economics

    Ashland University has named Dr. Jeffrey Russell as dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics. He is serving as interim dean at this time and will start his tenure as dean on July 1.

    In announcing the appointment, Ashland University Provost Dr. Frank Pettigrew said, “Jeff brings stability and great leadership for the Dauch College to this position and will utilize his past knowledge and experience of the College and the University to guide the future direction for the Dauch College of Business and Economics.”

  • Ashland University College of Arts and Sciences to Host Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium

    Ashland University’s College of Arts and Sciences is hosting an Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium that will feature the works of more than 60 students from 13 departments in the College.

    According to Dr. Andrew Greene, assistant professor of biology/toxicology, the April 7 symposium, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 12:45 to 7 p.m. in Myers Convocation Center. A question-and-answer segment will follow each session.

  • 21st Century Learning Skills Summit to be Held in Columbus

    Named as a “leadership state” with the national Partnership for 21st Century Skills, the state of Ohio has made a commitment to transform the public education system, improve the college readiness of students and build a globally competitive labor force.

    To kick off this commitment, an Ohio Summit on 21st Century Learning Skills will be held on May 4 at the Crown Plaza Hotel Columbus North at 6500 Doubletree Ave. in Columbus. This Summit is co-hosted by Ashland University and the Ohio Department of Education.

  • Mitt Romney to Speak at Ashbrook Center’s Memorial Dinner at Ashland University

    Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will speak on “The Case for American Greatness” at Ashland University on April 30 as the keynote speaker for the 25th annual John M. Ashbrook Memorial Dinner.

    Sponsored by the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, the event has hosted many political leaders including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell and Margaret Thatcher.

  • Ashland University Criminal Justice Students Earn Statewide Recognition

    Two Ashland University students in the University’s Criminal Justice program have earned statewide recognition.

    Alexis Kodosky, a senior majoring in criminal justice and environmental science, was named the Outstanding Criminal Justice Undergraduate Student of the Year by the Ohio Council of Criminal Justice Education. She is the daughter of Cindy and Daniel Kodosky, 11300 Smith Road in Spencer, and is a 2006 graduate of Black River High School.
