  • Ashland University to Host 50th Annual Mohican District Science Day

    A total of 307 students from 46 schools are expected to converge on the Ashland University campus Saturday, March 27, for the 50th annual Mohican District Science Day. Sponsored by the Mohican District Junior Division of the Ohio Academy of Science, the event will be held in Ashland University’s John C. Myers Convocation Center.

  • Mitt Romney to Speak at Ashbrook Center’s Memorial Dinner at Ashland University

    Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will speak on “The Case for American Greatness” at Ashland University on April 30 as the keynote speaker for the 25th annual John M. Ashbrook Memorial Dinner.

    Sponsored by the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, the event has hosted many political leaders including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell and Margaret Thatcher.

  • Ashland University Criminal Justice Students Earn Statewide Recognition

    Two Ashland University students in the University’s Criminal Justice program have earned statewide recognition.

    Alexis Kodosky, a senior majoring in criminal justice and environmental science, was named the Outstanding Criminal Justice Undergraduate Student of the Year by the Ohio Council of Criminal Justice Education. She is the daughter of Cindy and Daniel Kodosky, 11300 Smith Road in Spencer, and is a 2006 graduate of Black River High School.

  • Ashland University to Acquire MedCentral College of Nursing; Plans to Expand Healthcare Curriculum in Response to Shortage of Qualified Nursing Professionals

    ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ashland University and MedCentral Health System of Mansfield have signed a letter of intent to transfer MedCentral’s College of Nursing operations to Ashland University beginning July 1, 2010.

    The Boards of Trustees of both institutions have approved the intent to negotiate final agreements, which are expected to be signed later this spring. Located in Mansfield, Ohio, the MedCentral College of Nursing has approximately 380 students enrolled in a traditional nursing education program as well as an accelerated program.

  • Ashbrook Colloquium to Center on Theodore Roosevelt and Progressive Party

    The John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University will host a colloquium on “Theodore Roosevelt, the Progressive Party, and the Transformation of American Democracy” presented by Sidney Milkis, White Burkett Miller professor of politics and assistant director for Academic Programs at the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia.

  • Award Winning Photographer to Present Spring Honors Program Lecture

    The Ashland University Academic Honors Program is hosting a lecture on Thursday, March 18, featuring Tom Ulrich, an award winning freelance photographer. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Faculty Room in Myers Convocation Center.

    Ulrich, who was the 2005 recipient of the North American Nature Photography Association’s Fellow Award, will be presenting an “Evening of Images: Capturing Nature and Animal Behavior.”

  • Art Department Presents Awards to Student Artists

    The Ashland University Art Department opened the 2010 Juried Student Art Exhibition on Feb. 25 in the Coburn Gallery, where they offered $1,300 in awards to student artists.

    The $250 Best in Show award was given to senior Casey Snyder of Tecumseh, Mich., for her oil painting titled, “Riot.”

    The $200 “Caldy” Award was given to junior Joshua Risner of Ashland, Ohio, for his acrylic painting, “Speaking of Faith.”

  • University Names Director of Research Support and Sponsored Programs

    Ashland University’s Graduate School has named Dr. Patrick Miller as director of research support and sponsored programs.

    Dr. Miller comes to Ashland from Purdue University, Calumet, and brings a wealth of experience in grants administration and the securing of external funds. He will be on campus on a part-time basis until assuming the position full time on July 1.

  • OCTM Tournament to be Held on Ashland University Campus

    The annual Tournament of Mathematics sponsored by the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM) will be held on the Ashland University campus on Feb. 27. The event, which will feature 120 high school students from eight schools, will be held in the Dwight Schar College of Education.

    Ashland University’s Department of Foreign Languages is hosting a bilingual poetry reading and talk on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Schar College of Education. The event is free and open to the public.
