Conditional Admission

If you wish to study at Ashland University but do not yet have sufficient skills in English to do so, you can request contingent (conditional) admission. If you are given contingent admission, you will be admitted to ACCESS for language study. Then, when you complete the ACCESS course, you will be eligible to begin your academic studies at Ashland University without needing to make another application.

You will receive a letter of admission from ACCESS and a letter of conditional admission from Ashland University. If you require Form I-20, the form will be marked to show that you will begin your study in the English program before you undertake classes in the academic field of your choice. There is no additional application fee. If you have been conditionally admitted, you are eligible to participate in the Transition Program.

In the Transition Program you are permitted to take one selected university class at the same time that you are taking two or three advanced level English classes in ACCESS. This is an excellent way to get your first experience of academic classes at Ashland University. Students will be permitted to begin full-time academic studies without published English Proficiency scores as long as they have successfully completed the ACCESS program.

Contingent admission is available for our undergraduate, MEd and MBA programs.
