February 2013 - Jessica Workinger
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate junior Jessica Workinger as February's Intern of the Month. Jessica is an Accounting major and completed her internship at The J.M Smucker Company. Jessica says, "My advice for future interns is to try and pick the brains of the employees of the company as much as possible to form an informal mentorship." Jessica is also involved with the The Institute of Managerial Accountants, Lifework Leadership, Alpha Lambda Delta, & The Well. Congratulations, Jessica!
January 2013 - Anna Kiebel
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Anna Kiebel as January's Intern of the Month. Anna is a Criminal Justice major and completed her internship at Licking County Adult Felony Probation. Anna was responsible for typing pre-sentence investigation reports, visiting clients in prison, going to court, and more. Anna says, "I would greatly encourage other students to try and get an internship related to their major. I think it is the perfect way to confirm that that you chose the right major and that all your hard work you put into school will be worth it one day." Anna is also involved with the Criminal Justice Honorary, Club Volleyball, Women’s Rugby, and Religious Life. Congratulations, Anna!
November 2012 - Heather Kohler
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Heather Kohler as November's Intern of the Month. Heather is an Exercise Science major and completed her internship at Wooster Community Hospital Cardiac Rehab. Heather was responsible for creating exercise prescriptions for patients, interpreting patient data, taking blood pressures, and more. Heather says, "I would recommend finding an internship within your major that interests you. I also believe that the internship should be a learning experience that pushes you to excel in many ways." Heather is also involved with the Women's Lacrosse Team, Exercise Science Club, and works in the Ashland University Recreation Center. Congratulations, Heather!
October 2012 - Lindsey Knapp
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Lindsey Knapp as October's Intern of the Month. Lindsay is a Biology major and completed her internship at The University of California-Berkeley in the Department of Biology. Lindsey's responsibilities were similar to that of a graduate student--she implemented experiments independently throughout the summer, and at the end of the summer gave presentations on her projects. Lindsey says, "I would strongly encourage students in all majors to complete an internship. Nothing will teach you more than actually getting into the field and working alongside professionals." Lindsey is also the President of the Honors Society and works in the Chemistry Stockroom. Congratulations, Lindsey!
April 2012 - Danielle Slone
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Danielle Slone as April's Intern of the Month. Danielle is a Broadcast Communications major and completed an internship with “Q96 FM,” “95.5 The Hawk,” and “Wink 107.1.” Danielle’s primary responsibilities included working directly with the Promotions Director. She assisted him in preparing for station appearances, writing release forms, and working at out-of-studio radio events on a weekly basis. Danielle says, “I hope to take these skills and apply them to other broadcasting networks so that I can become a quality professional in the broadcasting industry. Danielle is also the program director for 88.9 WRDL and is involved with Phi Mu Sorority. Congratulations, Danielle!
March 2012 - Alicia Casselberry
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate sophomore Alicia Casselberry as March's Intern of the Month. Alicia is a Business Management major and currently is completing an internship with Annette’s Victorian Garden in Ashland. Alicia works directly with the owner on brand management initiatives and helps in making decisions for the business. She also works closely with The Times Gazette through advertising and writing articles in order to promote the business. Alicia says, “My internship has been a great experience that has allowed me to demonstrate what I have learned in the classroom to a real world business that will prepare me for my future.” Alicia is also a member of the Ashland University Club Volleyball team, an Intramural Official, and a member of Eagle Eye Marketing. February 2012 - Megan Wise
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate junior Megan Wise as February's Intern of the Month. Megan is a Speech & Broadcast Communication major and completed an internship with The Professional Football Hall of Fame. Megan’s primary responsibility involved coordinating large scale events. She organized room set ups, accounted for all guest accommodations, and experienced working in an extremely fast paced environment. Megan says, “This internship gave me the confidence I needed to handle myself professionally at a prestigious organization.” Megan is also a campus Tour Guide, Promotion Manager for the Journalism and Digital Media Department, and a member of the Women’s Chorus. January 2012 - Rebecca Civittolo
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate senior Rebecca Civittolo as January's Intern of the Month. Rebecca is a Social Work & Philosophy major and currently has an internship with The Village Network & Wayne/Holmes Mental Health & Recovery Board. Rebecca's primary responsibilities include researching policy initiatives and meeting with a client to prepare him for his transition into permanent custody. Rebecca says, "The internship has already given me a wonderful experience that will aid me in my future career...My speaking and writing skills continue to improve as I work with these agencies each day." Rebecca is also a Writing Assistant, Philosophy Club Vice President, and Phi Sigma Tau Secretary. Congratulations, Rebecca!
November 2011 - Meghan Ellsworth
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate junior Meghan Ellsworth as November’s Intern of the Month. Meghan is a Broadcast Communication major and completed an internship with Coastal Television in Cape Coast, Ghana, West Africa in the summer of 2011. Meghan's primary responsibilities included producing, filming, and editing a TV show about the different cultures and lifestyles around the city of Cape Coast. Meghan says, "I faced cultural and language barriers. My experiences with all of these not only taught me how to overcome issues in the field using creativity and few supplies, but also how to deal with stereotypes in my work." Meghan is also involved with Ashland's TV-2 and is a writing assistant at the Ashland University Writing Center. Congratulations, Meghan!
October 2011 - Daniel Mitchell
The Career Services Center would like to congratulate junior Daniel Mitchell as October’s Intern of the Month. Daniel is an Economics & Marketing major and completed an internship with University Directories for Ashland University in the summer of 2011. Daniel's primary responsibility was calling local business owners in Ashland and presenting advertising samples to them that would improve their business and visibility to the college community. Daniel says, "The internship helped prepare me for my future by giving me real world experience with business owners." Daniel is also a Resident Assistant, Campus Tour Guide, Ashbrook Scholar, and the Executive Officer of Academic Affairs on Student Senate. Congratulations, Daniel!
