Spiritual Wellness often times means different thing to each individual who is working towards a well-rounded lifestyle. Many individuals are working towards developing a set of guiding beliefs, principles, or values that give purpose and meaning to life. It helps individuals develop a sense of wholeness within themselves and their relationship with others. Many people develop their spiritual wellness through organized religion. Religious groups provide social and material support to individuals who might have otherwise been isolated. Participation in organized religions such as Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism, along with many others provides a way for people to discover happiness, serenity and reduce anxiety, through prayer meditation, performance in rituals and ceremonies, and work and service to others.
Spiritual Wellness can also be achieved without participation in organized religion. Often time’s individuals find spiritual wellness through spending time in nature or working on environmental issues. This provides opportunities for human development on a global level by promoting human rights, peace, and harmony among individuals.
