The convenience of an online course with the interaction of a traditional classroom
The new MAHG Live Online courses, part of Ashland University's Master of Arts program in American History and Government, give busy professionals new options to pursue a master's degree or earn graduate credit without disrupting their personal or professional responsibilities. Each course focuses on the study of original historical documents and is open to teachers, community college faculty, K-12 curriculum planners, legislative and public policy institute staffers, and others with a professional or personal interest in the history and government of the United States.
CONVENIENT ONLINE FORMAT
MAHG Live Online courses meet via webconference once per week for seven weeks on a weekday evening or on a Saturday morning. With a standard web browser and webcam, you will be seen and heard in the online classroom, able to interact with the professor and your fellow students from anywhere you have access to a high-speed internet connection.
EARN YOUR DEGREE IN AS FEW AS 15 MONTHS
With a combination of online and intensive summer study, motivated students may earn their degree in as few as 15 months. Need more time because of professional, family, or financial commitments? We have options to meet your needs.
STIMULATING INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENT
Unlike typical “online” courses in which students correspond with instructors and other students via online bulletin boards -- often waiting days or weeks for a response -- our students and professors are connected in real-time. With MAHG Live Online, when you ask a question you will get an immediate response. Have a comment or something to add to the discussion? Share your thoughts immediately with the class. It's really like being in the classroom. See for yourself.
SMALL CLASS SIZES
Heard stories about online courses in which one instructor is assigned to teach hundreds of students in a single class? Enrollment in each MAHG Live Online course is capped at just 16 students. Each class is just large enough to foster quality discussion, but still small enough that all participants get to know each other. You are never just a faceless name or number in the MAHG Live Online classroom.
DISTINGUISHED FACULTY
The faculty of MAHG Live Online courses feature many of the same scholars who teach our summer semester courses. MAHG professors include full-time faculty from Ashland University’s own Department of History and Political Science, as well as well-known and widely published visiting history and political science faculty from other institutions across the country.
COMMON AND INEXPENSIVE COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS
MAHG Live Online uses Cisco’s WebEx technology to create the most interactive learning environment available outside of a traditional classroom. No expensive or sophisticated equipment is needed. In all likelihood, your home or work computer already meets all of the necessary technical requirements. To participate, you need a relatively recent PC or Mac with a current web browser, a stable high-speed cable or DSL internet connection, a web cam, speakers, and a microphone.
