Prepare for the Future

Lindsey Knapp spent this past summer in sunny California, but she wasn’t just lounging on the beach. The Ashland University senior biology major was busy researching and studying as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program, Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). Knapp worked alongside other biology students and professors, and ultimately took home valuable skills she will utilize both in school and in her future career.

AU One of Top 15 in Nation

Ashland University has been named as one of the top 15 over-performing colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The publication looked at data from the its Best Colleges 2013, then took peer assessments and compared the information to the actual rankings. Ashland University’s performance is 58 places above its peer assessments, placing it among the top 15 over-performing schools in the country.

Endowed Scholarship

An Ashland University student has been awarded the 2012-2013 Business Advisory Council Endowed Scholarship, valued at $1,000. Alicia Casselberry, a business management major and marketing minor, received the award based on her academic success, a letter of interest, her resume and three letters of reference. She was chosen out of 21 other eligible students, all of which have achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Project Lemonade

 On Oct. 11, Ashland University President Frederick J. Finks recognized two young boys at the annual Founders Dinner. Luke, 9, and Jack Pomfret, 7, sons of Associate Vice President of University Campaigns & Government Relations Margaret Pomfret, had made a donation to the University from money they received operating a lemonade stand earlier in the summer. The donation was $8.47.
