Dr. Stephen Haven, professor of English and director of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program at Ashland University, had his third book of poems, “The Last Sacred Place in North America,” selected as winner of the New American Press Poetry Prize. Haven's book was selected by poet and critic T.R. Hummer from a pool of nearly 300 manuscripts.

According to Ashland University Provost Dr. Frank Pettigrew, the new Center for Academic Support has been created within the Division of Academic Affairs and is being headed by Kathy Stone as the director of academic support.

For the second year in a row, 100 percent of Ashland University’s social work graduates who took the Association of Social Work Board exam passed the exam on their first attempt. “Our students have consistently scored much higher than both the state and national pass rate averages,” said Nancy Udolph, associate professor of social work and chair of the Department of Social Work at Ashland University.
