Clinical experience in health care agencies is an integral part of two nursing content areas: community/public health and leadership/management. Clinical experiences are available in students' geographical areas and are tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual RN student.
Required prior to clinical placements:
- criminal background check
- drug screen
- professional liability insurance
- completed medical history and physical examination
- completed and current immunizations
- TB screening (yearly update for mantoux skin test)
- current CPR certification
- documentation of annual Standard Precautions training
NUR 414 NURSING PROCESS:
COMMUNITY & PUBLIC HEALTH 6 - 8

For the 8 credit hour option: 4.5 : 3.5
This course applies the nursing process to families and aggregates in the community setting, with a strong focus on health promotion and disease prevention. In addition, core public health functions and public health nursing practice will be addressed. Students will have clinical experience throughout the semester.
NUR 405 NURSING PROCESS:
HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS 5
Prerequisites: NUR 414, BUS 240, 318
Clinical/Didactic Ratio: 3:2
The course expands the utilization of the nursing process to health
care delivery systems. The focus of the course is the professional
nurses leadership and management role in working effectively within
the various types of organizational systems. The various aspects
of the role of the nurse as leader and manager are explored in depth
with special emphasis on the role of nurse as change agent. The
clinical component focuses on the application of relevant theory
and research as a basis for critical thinking and decision making.
