Mission Statement
The Athletic Training Program provides a nurturing and supportive educational experience for the Athletic Training Students. Through the integration of the missions of the University and the Sport Sciences Department, the Athletic Training major prepares the individual student for a career in Athletic Training. The program integrates the competencies and proficiencies outlined by the Education Council through didactic and clinical experiences in order to prepare the student to be a practicing Athletic Trainer. Athletic Training Students will abide by the laws which govern the practice of Athletic Training within the State of Ohio. Athletic Training Students will conduct themselves with the highest integrity by observing and practicing the Code of Ethics as outlined by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Transfer Policy
Athletic training students, from an institution other than Ashland University, wishing to transfer into the ATEP must contact the Registrar's office. The Registrar will determine which courses and how many hours will transfer to Ashland University The registrar and the Program Director will work together to determine the appropriate course sequencing in regards to the Athletic Training major. Therefore, each student is reviewed and accepted on a case by case basis.
Exit Criteria
- Successfully complete all College and University requirements.
- Successfully complete all required Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) courses.
- The student must pass all designated athletic training courses with a C or better.
- Any student receiving a C- or below must retake the course.
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of a 2.5.
- Must have completed the 600 clinical hours requirement.
- Must have completed and evaluated Athletic Training portfolio.
