The integrated science education major provides a broad basic training that prepares graduates to teach multiple science subjects. The program includes courses in geology, chemistry, physics and biology, and is taught by professors who are passionate about teaching. Graduates from our program serve as a teacher or administrator in nearly every school district in the state.
You will graduate with a comprehensive major where approximately one third of your program will be educational curriculum and two thirds will be science courses. By the time you complete your baccalaureate program, you will be well equipped to take on the challenges of the classroom, and you will also possess a firm grounding in the knowledge and research skills of a scientist.

- This year, Ashland University’s College of Education achieved a 96 percent pass rate on the state-mandated Praxis 2 exams and a 100 percent pass rate on state-mandated Praxis 3 exams, which means you can be confident you possess the skills you need to find employment as a teacher when you graduate.

Gain Real World Experience
You will complete 300 clock hours of field and clinical experience prior to undertaking your student teaching. Your student teaching experience includes a minimum of 300 clock hours in a Physical Science classroom.

- Physical Geology — A study of the origin of minerals and rocks and the processes acting on and in the earth and their results as reflected in topography and earth structures.
- Inorganic Chemistry — Study inorganic chemistry according to periodic properties. Develop bonding theories for solid state and coordination chemistry.
- Introduction to Principles of Instructional Technology — Explore the topics of research theory and history of instructional technology; visual literacy, evaluation of IT; the relationship of IT to learning styles; and instructional computing experiences.
