Do you enjoy the use of mathematical methods to study natural phenomena?
The physical science education major allows graduates to teach physical science, chemistry and physics as well as advanced placement courses. Students are taught in both our nationally renowned education program and our exceptional science program, and complete over 600 hours of field experience.
Approximately one third of your program will be educational curriculum and two thirds will be science courses, primarily chemistry and physics. By the time you complete your baccalaureate program, you will be well equipped to take on the challenges of the classroom, and you will also possess a firm grounding in the knowledge and research skills of a physical scientist.

What You’ll Love About the Physical Science Education Program:
- You will graduate with a firm grounding in physics and chemistry and in teacher preparation.
- You get to know your professors well and have opportunities to work closely with them.
- Professors teach every class, not teaching assistants or graduate students.
- Our science education graduates are in high demand and have a 100 percent rate of placement.
- Ashland’s teacher education program is renowned throughout the nation as excellent preparation for teachers.
- To help you get the most value out of your student teaching experience, you will be guided and evaluated by professors from both the science and education departments.
