Requirements for becoming a nursing student at Ashland University
- Graduate of an accredited RN program (diploma or associate degree) OR enrolled in nursing school to participate in 300 level nursing classes and/or required non-nursing classes.
- Current active unrestricted, unencumbered RN OR a graduate eligible to sit for the NCLEX.
- Completed application form and receipt of official transcript(s) of previous academic work.
Offered as an online program, prospective students with beginning level computer skills (i.e., word processing, send/receive email, create attachments) are encouraged to seek additional experience in windows-based computer applications prior to beginning the nursing sequence. It is expected that each student enrolled in the nursing program will have access the Internet.
Validation of Previous Nursing Education:
Thirty semester hours of credit are granted for previous nursing education, experience and continuing education.
Graduation Requirements:
A minimum of 128 semester hours are required for graduation with a grade point average of not less than 2.0 overall and 2.25 in the nursing major. 32 semester hours of credit must be earned from Ashland University.
To earn a BSN degree from Ashland University, 30 hours of nursing credit must be earned through Ashland University. Department of Nursing proficiency credit can be earned for a maximum of 2 nursing courses. A student must enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 4 required Ashland University nursing courses.
A minimum of 60 semester hours of credit must be earned from a 4-year college/university. 30 semester hours of Ashland University required nursing courses can be used toward meeting this requirement. The remaining semester hours may be met through non-nursing course work.
*The last 16 semester hours earned before graduation must be earned from Ashland University.
