Rec Center Membership

The following chart details the eligibility and the cost per semester for membership to the Recreation and Sports Sciences Center.  Anyone eligible for membership *except* full-time students needs to complete each of the following forms to apply:

*Faculty/Staff/Students who don't have a membership can buy a membership for their spouses    only for the $75 fee.

*Summer is considered a semester and will be $75 May-August.

* Family Pass includes the spouse and all the children that reside in their house for a charge of $195 per semester (which includes your Faculty/Staff membership per semester)

*Alumni are individuals that have graduated from Ashland University either in the graduate or undergraduate program. All Alumni before they can purchase a membership will be approved through Alumni office in founders. Alumni membership is not open to Alumni's families except their spouses. Alumni weekends will include Fridays starting at 5pm in the fall.

*All Guests must be accompanied by a member and 3 guests per member. If a member leaves the Rec Center the guest must leave as well. Also, the member must be present with the guest for them to purchase a pass. If the guest is 16 or older they need no supervision within the building, but if the guest is 15 or younger they need supervision by the member at all times.

*Children of members may not purchase individual passes, and must use a Family membership or guest pass to enter the facility with their parents.

*The 7-day and 30-day passes can only be purchased by Faculty/Staff/Grad Students/Seminary Students. This is similar to a punch card, you get 7 trips or 30 trips depending on the pass you purchased and can only be used by the member who purchased it. When you purchase one of these passes you are not eligible to purchase guest passes. These passes are valid for one year from the purchase date.

* Members may pay by semester or by school year. Also, automatic transfer is available from Faculty/Staff paychecks.   

Groups Eligible for Individual Memberships

  • Full-time undergraduate students defined as an undergraduate student enrolled at Ashland University with at least 12 credit hours.
  • Alumni of Ashland University
  • Graduate, seminary, evening & weekend, part-time students defined as students taking AU graduate or seminary classes or taking undergraduate AU classes on a part-time basis.
  • Spouses of students defined as the husband or wife of a current AU student.
  • Faculty and staff members defined as a person who is a full-time employee either a faculty member, administrator or hourly staff, permanent part-time and Adjunct that have 10 years of experience. The Personnel Office plans to offer a payroll deduction option for faculty and staff.
  • Retired faculty and staff members defined as a person who is a member of the AU Heritage Club.
  • Spouses of faculty and staff or spouses of retired faculty and staff or spouses of alumni defined as the husband or wife of a faculty or staff member or a retired faculty or staff member or alumni.
  • Trustees defined as a member of the AU Board of Trustees.
  • Members of the community cannot purchase memberships and this will be strictly enforced.            

Membership Options   

  • Family A Family Membership is available for $350 a year, in addition to the $75 per semester charge for initial faculty/staff/student membership. For example, yearly membership for a family of four would cost the $350 plus the $225 charge for all three semesters, which comes out to $191.50 per person for the year.
  • A Family Membership includes the spouse and all children who reside in their house. The children must be natural or legally adopted, no older than 24 years of age and claimed as a dependent to be eligible. Children of members may not purchase individual passes, and must use a Family membership or guest pass to enter the facility with their parents.
  • Children ages 3 to 17 have restricted hours Monday-Thursday of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and restricted use of some equipment. During the weekends (Friday-Sunday), breaks, and summer there are no restricted hours for children 17 and under.
  • 15 and under members must have their 18 year old family member with them at all times and 16-17 can be in the building without supervision with a parental signed waiver. 18 or older members don't require any supervision at any time.

Miscellaneous Passes

  • Program Center Pass -- Students attending one of AU's off-campus centers can purchase a $4 per day pass.
  • Guest Pass -- $5.00 for the entire day
  • Punch Pass -- Those eligible for membership can opt to purchase punch passes: valid 1 year from purchase date
