          Although Janel is not new to Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services, she does have a new title! Recently, Janel has been named the Director of Recreational Services. Previously, she served as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Student Development. 

          When asked what her favorite part about working for the Department of Recreational Services she says:“My favorite part about working for the Department of Recreational Services is the upbeat work atmosphere I am surrounded by each day! The Rec Center is filled with energetic employees & members.  Each day is different - you know what to expect on a day to day basis - but on the same token you don't know what to expect.  There is always something that comes up that you have never encountered before.  Each day is learning experience which makes you continue to learn & come back each day for more.”

Looking for something to do this weekend? Why not stop by the Rec Center and cool off with a dive-in movie! A dive-in movie is the same theatrical experience you would get in a traditional movie theater, but instead of stiff, uncomfortable chairs, you can enjoy the movie from an inner tube floating around the pool! Tables and chairs will be provided for those who wish to take a break from floating! Food and beverages will also be provided. Admission is $5.00 per person (Cash and Check will be accepted). Movies will begin at 7:30. Please enter through the pool doors off of Garmon Ave. (Entrance near the sand-volleyball courts.)

This Saturday, June 20th, we will be showing our first movie of the summer! 'Mall Cop' will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Rec Center pool! Stop by and enjoy a good swim and laugh!

Trying to find something for your kids to do this summer? Check out the RSSC Sports and Activities Camp! Campers ages 5 - 12 will have the chance to spend the week participating in team building activities, sports, and utilizing the facilities the Rec has to offer!

Check out our upcoming Community Cornhole Tournament! Yes, it is OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY!

What you need to know:

• 1-Day Tournament: Saturday, August 8th at 1:00 p.m.
• Entries are due by: Friday, August 7th at NOON
• Games will be played on the intramural field, located behind the Recreation Center [Garmon Ave.])
• The tournament is Double Elimination
• All participants must be 16 years or older
• Weather information - rain site will be inside the Recreation Center
• Cash Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams

our Bowling Tournament! Entry forms are due by Wednesday, July 15th. Bowling will take place Thursday, July 16th at Luray Lanes!
